šŸˆ šŸ”Ž- Looking ahead to Oklahoma (Monday interviews with the coaching staff.)

I’m pretty confident we CAN win this game but we have to click on all cylinders all 60 minutes, all 4 qtrs and every snap near perfect. We really need to establish a running game.
The attempt and trying to establish the run game is what has helped Ty on play action passes, which he excels.
I do think we need a fast start though and then put our foot on their throats for once. Their QB likes to turn it over so let’s take advantage of those opportunities.
@alabama mike used an old Neyland game maxim, block, tackle and execute!! When I was coaching, we used those maxims and called them our Aggie game maxims. One was simple, take the fight to our opponent for 60 minutes (48 in HS) and in the end protect our lead protect our QB and protect OUR ballgame.

We always at least establish our willingness to run (however ineffectively). Our running game is due for a breakout. Even if that doesn't happen, Where Milroe didn't have any answers last year, hopefully Simpson is heady enough to overcome whatever they throw at him. As for motivation, they pretty much knocked us out of the playoff last year. They should have all the motivation they need.

This team "pass blocks" most of the time... It is hard for them to just suddenly "run block" well, I guess... We are who we are now... We are going to have to beat the rest of our schedule passing the ball..

I can't get over Sooners' schedule for some reason. I just keep looking at the schedule and I see 5-0 starts. Their win against Michigan 24-13. It wasn't close game as it suggests. It's a quality win for Sooners. Then they went on play Auburn at home. That game was closer than expected. Freeze was still a coach at that time. Both QBs had a hell of a game. Running game wasn't there for both teams. Arnold cost them a chance to tie the game. What stood out to me the most is their losses to Texas and Ole miss, both teams are in consideration for playoff spots.

Sooners has played 3 roads game to date. Beside Tennessee I don't think they played in hostile environment at all this season.

We're going to have to do few things to stay ahead of them:
1. Sustain drives. Control the clock at times. Keep Defense on field longer.
2. Keep them out of redzone as much as we can. limit them to FGs.

The conference's two best defensive fronts were there though. And wasn't the OU QB limited then?

1. Sustain drives.
As much as I love for us to keep the ball, I don't think that's possible against OU. I actually think the only way we win is to connect deep enough, often enough, for them to respect our deep routes. This will mean quicker drives and points, than we've been used to this season. But it will force the OU offense out of their comfort zone if we get an early lead. So it's all on Ty and our receivers. If they succeed, then maybe we can get a few rushing yards here and there by the 4th QT.

2. Keep them out of redzone as much as we can. limit them to FGs.
Our red zone D has been our strength all season, hasn't it? We have one of the best red zone Ds in the conference. Is OU's red zone O particularly good??

Also,
Effect the QB
Limit long passing plays and 3rd down conversions
Stuff the run near los

Keep Ty protected
Oline open running lanes so Jam isn’t dancing behind los

Punch boomer sooner in the mouth and not let up

Given our inability to have comfortable wins, I can't help but get a feeling that another loss is inevitable, and it could happen any weekend other than E. Illinois. The comments here, to me, suggests I'm not alone in that feeling. Concerns over the run game, a front seven that could rattle Ty, a D that could give up big plays, it all weighs on the psyche of a Bama fan who is used to feeling wins were inevitable.

I've never been this uncomfortable at 8-1 since Saban arrived. We live in uncertain times.

Is 28/28 with 21 TD's considered good? And they have that kicker that hits them from a mile away like he's toying with it.
I've come across two things that jumped out to me.

Their early downs EPA is inside of the top 100, but not by much. It's not good but it's better than their Quality Points per Drive: 96th. If you put that in context it explains Mateer to a "t." He's most dangerous in improvational situations. If you aren't having success on early downs, you're scrambling to make a 1st on 3rd down. (Average there, nationally.)

The quality drive/points? It's still good: 30th nationally. (Perspective: Bama is 12th at 62 percent.)

On another note. Unless something has changed since yesterday I understand both tackle positions have question marks right now. It's my understanding Bama wasn't Mateer to get jumpy. If they are shuffling personnel there this weekend? That's ideal.
