🏈 🔎 Looking ahead to Georgia. Neither team is the same as they were a matter of week ago.

Not different eras but different circumstances.

The situation was unique for both in their first year. Both Saban and DeBoer were forced to tolerate things in their first seasons that they wouldn't tolerate moving forward.
Saban walked into a hot mess that didn't have NIL era.. CKD waited into a sensitive situation that could could blow up bad because of NIL, transfer portal and etc. Different era, factors and so it's not same thing.

@TerryP so what was the intent of your post? It seems like you were or are trying to show CKD == CNS. Am I misreading your intent? Maybe it was just a data point and nothing more.

BTW I assume your point to my post when you brought era into the conversation was that I keep measuring the quality of our defense to a standard regardless of era. That is true with regards to the fundamental belief that you should stop the run and be able to run the ball. Does not seem to matter the era as this simple principle applies at least to me. Play more physical than the other team which is reflected by how well you control the line of scrimmage. Seems pretty simple and fundamental to me.

To get somewhat back to the thread topic.... whoever is more physical and runs the ball better and stops the run will likely win Saturday unless turnovers come into play.

The irony. That was the point. As I was pointing out I wasn't comparing the two to each other it was the W/L's that caught my eye.

It's arguable DeBoer is doing a better job than Saban would have at this point. They have no deep ball, no running game, and they are the home team in the SECCG. How do you put that together?

Fully agree. But both situations, while different were not ideal or easy. Neither could just kick players to the curb. Both had to manage a situation that wasn’t what they would have built.
* Saban inherited some good talent- it had just been mismanaged.

I think Kirby is gonna throw every blitz package he has at us this weekend. That OL better be ready. I got so sick of our OL getting beat last weekend and the OL looking lost while they picked Simpson up off the ground…I think Kirby is licking his chops for this game…

@TerryP
They meaning Bama?
The eye test, to me, is Bama in some ways has taken 1 1/2 steps forward and 1 step back in other areas. Forward; defense
Backward; offense
I hope our offense can have sustained drives, take time off the clock and finish with touchdowns AND rest our D.

We did that vs AU at end of game. That final drive was incredible. Gotsomehel with penalties. But.......

Need to quit wasting offense series. Get killer instinct.

Actually. I didn't think oline playedd bad at alll.
Just cant have long slow devoping plays on 3rd n long. The blize is coming. Every one knows it.
Well. All but one

But mostly played well. Give TY time. Be can make it happen

Agree they played well overall. My post from Sunday am's good, bad, ugly...

As a whole, the OL played well. Tough environment for them to communicate, but they did it well with few penalties. Brailsford played on 1 leg and held up ok. They opened some nice holes in the run game, especially early. Had a lot thrown at them in pass pro, and were not helped by some of the calls or Simpson's decisions at times. Cuevas being out hurt here a bit too, but they managed. The young TE's are having to grow up fast right now.

Auburn was bringing more than Bama could block at times, it's a numbers game at that point. And fans think the OL sucks when they can't block them all and Simpson is sacked, hurried, or flushed... but that's not always on the OL.
