| FTBL Honest non bias look at this years team

So after watching each game several times and looking at Saban's reactions.. I think we are going to struggle to go 10-2. Our issues are in very key places this year and I believe much of it is due to players heading to the NFL but some it is players not playing to potential.

Qb - he is just not anywhere near what we have had. Seems like a great kid and I believe he is working hard but he isn't a vocal leader, his arm strength is weak and he is 5'9. If he had last years o-line we could hide him some but we don't

RB's - no dominant rb's. I love Sanders and his story, love Brian Robinsons leadership but he truly isn't dynamic. The other two have potential but aren't manning up yet and some of that falls on the o-line

OL - is not a strength. If Chris Owens is our best RT were are in serious trouble. Besides for Left tackle and LG we are struggling with assignments and just pushing people of the ball. We recruited 5 stars at OL for the last several years and all of them are holding a helmet on the sideline. Are we missing in recruiting or are we not developing them?

The defense has talent if we can stay healthy but I wonder who the true leaders of this team are? I dont see the same interaction on the sidelines.. it's like someone gave out Zoloft milkshakes to everyone.. no fire or interaction with teammates.

Saban's comments seem to be warning everyone to temper expectations and that this team still isn't buying into the process.

Now saying all this.. I hope they prove me wrong or improve and come together but right now just looking objectively we have a lot more issues than we have solutions. Another thing in our favor is that in my eyes everyone else in the SEC is down a this year too except for maybe Georgia, Kentucky and Arkansas They look very similar to last year.
While I don’t necessarily agree with all of your concerns, I’m not going to address them. Instead, I just want to say I’m SO glad this site and the folks on it “allow” open and honest opinions to be expressed! On some Bama sites, if you say anything the moderator deems negative or another commenter finds offensive, they will either suspend your account or you’ll be blasted with ad hominem attacks by those with permanently attached crimson colored glasses. Not so on this site and that’s one of many things I like so much about Rolltidebama.com. Anyway, my hat’s off to whoever started the site, to the moderators and to all of my fellow Bama fans! RTR!!!

Been to turdfans, huh?

We will get better on both sides of the ball moving forward no one scares me I just don't understand why anyone would be.
I think we are much better on Defense and have enough Offense to outscore anyone we play.
We will get better <translated> there are areas where the team can improve.

Through two games I can't point to anything with this team that we didn't discuss, ad naseum, before the season started. Yet, here we are going into the third game and the fret level is rising about things we already knew?

The sad thing here? I find myself shaking my head reading others opinions as if they're something new, out of character. But, this is something we see year in and year out.

I'm more concerned with if Jacob Copeland's momma will be wearing an Alabama shirt or a Florida shirt this weekend.

Wow, what QB have you been watching? Clearly someone else - unless our guy shrunk. He is extremely talented and highly composed especially considering it's only his second start. Oh and he is listed at 6'0" on our roster and 247 had him at 5'11" in the scouting report. Did he somehow shrink at least two inches? You're saying he is Flutie sized.

He just isn't near where Jones, Tua or even Hurts were yet. He hasn't had many chances to prove he can do it yet but in my opinion he doesn't have the arm strength of any of those guys. This doesn't mean he cant be successful it will just look different from what we have seen and we may take some lumps while he finds out how.

He is 5'9 ish. Lol about 247 sports or 6'0 on the roster. My wife's driver's license says she is 145, mine says I am 225 and my youngest sons 247 page says he is 6'5 190... he is 6'4 165.

Point being the roster heights and weights are not accurate but definately these recruiting sites including 247 are not accurate. These profiles are filled out by people who are trying to get their player recruited.

"Were yet", when?

7-0 TD to INT is in line with Mac who was 7-1 TD-INT last season after two games. 70% completion? That's Tua in 2019. A little under 500 yards after two games? That's Tua in 2019 as well.

What was expected here?

He is a really likeable kid and he hasn't done anything bad but he hasn't had the time to develop to what these other quarterbacks became. With his attitude and coaching I am sure he will conitnue to develop. My personal thought is he doesn't have the tools to do it the same way as those other guys. He is smaller guy and the ball just doesn't come out of his hand with the same zip and being so slight of frame I don;t know if he could physically hold up to running it.

Since he doesn't have a Najee, Henry, Harris, Jacobs, Yeldon, ingram or Lacy to hand it to, the offensive line hasn't come together yet and we really don't have a gamebreaker WR step up yet .. I am just concerned that we really have no bell cow to lean on and that a good defensive game plan could shut us down.. which hasn't happened to us for a while. If it is one of these teams that is hard for us to stop we may not be able to keep up as our offense doesn't seem as potent.

Young is better than Jalen 2017, and it's not particularly close.

I dunno

I dunno.... that pass he threw in the end zone, all be it a poor choice of a throw in to good coverage, had enough zip on it the DB couldn't hang on to if. If you recall the play I'm talking about. :)
At the 4 minute mark.

No offense we have ever had was as potent as last years. I do not think it reasonable to think this or any offense can do that. Also I do not think it is fair to compare Young now to a seasoned Tua/Jones/Hurts. Compare them to their first year would be a better. At that point it then comes down to potential which is hard to evaluate.

There's an odd need to compare to 2020 Alabama. That was the best team ever. Certainly the best offense. They destroyed nearly everyone because you couldn't stop them.

2021 Alabama does not have to be as good as 2020 Alabama. They have to be better than everyone in 2021. The list of great teams in 2021 seems minimal. Clemson, Ohio St are obviously not as good as they were. Oklahoma - jury is out. Georgia looks like the toughest opponent. A&M does not look as good as 2020.

This doesn't mean games vs. Ole Miss or Arkansas or Auburn or Florida aren't worrisome, but the landscape of college football doesn't have a great team out there that Alabama will struggle to measure up to.

I dont understand why after two games why some are already questioning this team…..
