🏈 GOOD, BAD, UGLY vs Miss. ST.!

Good: shutout, FG, JJ8 running possessed, zero penalties
Bad: OL wasn't stellar. Sure, they were playing a solid DL...Guess I'm spoiled
Ugly: Uhm, I guess if there was an ugly, then I'll go with Mac Jones' passing

Good---pickessd up a win even though they didn't play up to their standard, shut out the Bulldogs, FEROCIOUS defensive pressure on the QB, Bulovas made a looooooong FG

Bad---in the words of Saban, the offense didn't have any rhythm; basically the offense disappeared after halftime

Ugly---the o-line got their butts handed to them

Good - Defense was dominant as hell once again. Two shut outs in a row.

Bad - Offense was just flat out out of sync after the second drive and really bad from the third quarter on. They were still driving but shooting themselves in the foot before MSU's d-line took over in the third, but man, I dont like putting so much blame on one player but look at how the offense was humming - especially on the ground - before Brown's injury and then after Cotton came in. Cotton wasn't beat on all the negative plays but he was beaten (or just missed his assignment) pretty regularly.
First two drives: 156 yards, two TD, zero sacks (Brown injured on the TD run on the second drive)
Rest of the game: 149 yards, one TD, one FG, two turnovers, four sacks.
I think some of it may just simply be the line with Brown in the lineup has just gelled better together? Maybe? IDK.

Ugly - That block in the back call on MSU's last drive in the first half. That was egregious but I want cry too much considering all the missed calls last week. Its just going to bolster the "collusion" narrative.

Need Brown and Tua to get healthy but Jalen's health has become even more important at this point. He doesn't even look close to being ready to play, though. I'm not going to blame too much on Mac, bad situation for him, but the offense is doomed if he is in there at QB for anything that means something. They are going to pin their ears back and come on every play.

A few things I'll add:

Good: Our D Line has just been dominant. And it's not like we're stacking the box... Please keep those big boys healthy! Jacobs is just the real deal... The way he's finishing runs is impressive. Perfect mix of elusiveness and power. Also - Irv Smith is an incredible weapon... Basically our ace in the hole!

Bad: Pass blocking. I'll add that this was the first game all season I was disappointed in the play calling. We had a nice little rhythm in the short passing game and completely went away from it, despite the fact we could not block for the deeper routes. When that carried on in the 3rd quarter it got to the point where it was just crazy to keep Tua in the game. Great observation by BBJ that the D Brown injury may have impacted a lot... Add him to the list of guys we need healthy in 2 weeks. Speaking of - Seems like Devonta Smith either hasn't gotten healthy or hasn't gotten back in the game plan... 2 weeks in a row.

Ugly: The officiating when the pendulum swings back the other way... We've caught too many breaks... It's coming.

Good- D was insane. So much for my concern with them at the first of the season. For us to win, they may have to play at that level in into January.

Halfway Bad- Passing game. Sacks, INT, fumbles, missed passes. They had a good D but we missed a lot of blocks and opportunities. Tua’s knee is what our season hangs on. I still say he has something more than a sprain. Today didn’t help since he was on the ground so much. His mobility is almost gone. His accuracy has taken and doesn’t seem to be recovering. Maybe wrong, but I blame it on the knee. I sure wish we’d forget about Vegas and sit Tua next week. Surely with Mac just handing it off we can win.

Ugly - Mac at QB, just plain scary. And not in a good scary kind of way. And O Line after first 2 possessions. That’s baby far the lowest yardage total we’ve had. Probably the most punts in a game. Funny stat, LSU punted for 388 yards last week, Miss State punted for 294 today. That’s almost 700 yards of punting by our opponents in 2 games.

The only time I even notice Devonta is when hes blocking (which has been good at least).

Good: The D and a win.

Bad: Offense after the first quarter

Bad: Seemed like the MSU DL was more physical than our O-Line after the first quarter.

I want to find a positive in the offensive performance so my hope is that Bama needed a game to bring the offense back to earth after all the accolades they have been receiving. Hopefully Tua and Hurts can get healthy and Mac Jones can get some more reps if he is indeed needed.

We may have seen a blue print to slowing the offense down. Now its on the offense to self scout and make the adjustments.

Roll Tide!!!!

Good: Bama won and Tua is tie for the most TD's in a season! Need two tie and three to be #1

Bad: Bama "D" has played light out the last two games!

Ugly: The pass protection? WHAT THE CRAP 4 sack in this game! And that hit Tua got about his knee, that should have been a flag on it!

Good- Defense pitched a shutout! Bulovas with the 49 yarder!!

Bad- Bad Ass! The SOCOM parachute team!!! My hats off to those guys!
Bad- as in shitty! Our offense after we went up 21-0. State started bringing the house and we just threw max protection out the window and kept putting Tua at risk.

Ugly- officiating was lacking AS USUAL! The after game near fireworks between some guys could have gotten REALLY UGLY!! D Thompson seemed to want a piece of #3 that took the low hit on Tua that knocked him out.

Good...winning, defense,#8 running the ball
Bad...OL unable to keep #13 from getting dirty
Ugly....Mack Jones snaps........he has a long long way to go to even reach the shaky level.

#94 for Miss State made himself some money yesterday as far as moving up in the NFL draft. I would like to see the grades for Bama OL 70 and 74 and 71.
