Man... Now more than ever it feels like there just simply aren't enough reliable outlets for objective & factual information. The world has become more about blame and politicization than just having legitimate rational information. I mean Joe Rogan is awesome and all... But he shouldn't feel like the standard lol

To the death rate, Korea is showing about 0.6% overall (depends on when you look at the numbers). China shows 3.8% and Italy 6.3%. Korea is THE frontline and doing everything they can to test and isolate people so I expect they are what this would look like once we have good procedures in place for testing.

Right now we have an absolute mess in the US. Some of it is outside our control. The companies that make the chemicals needed for testing are running out due to demand. The first batches were all bad in the US so we lost our first testing round. We can't just magically ramp up production on something that every country needs right now (and many other countries need much more than us).

Doctors are supposed to be the frontline in the US and take the sample to send out for testing, but locally we have doctors telling people not to come in but go to certain hospitals or government agencies instead (these places don't have the test either). Facebook is full of folks saying to show up at hospital x and get tested, which just sends a bunch of sick people to a place that can't do more than their own doctors. We also have people telling each other on social media that they can hold their breath for 10 seconds to see if they are infected.

Here's the deal. Limit interaction with others when possible. Wash hands and/or use sanitizer, any with 60% alcohol or higher is good. This is especially important any time you touch your face. Be that "Karen" who uses sanitizer on everything. If you feel sick, stay home. Most of all , don't panic. The panic is getting ridiculous.

This is a big deal. And obviously lots of people COULD DIE from it, but shit people are making this like the sky is falling. The media and their mass hysteria are making things worse. Those people that don’t think this is anything are just as bad as the people freaking out like this is the Black Plague. Stay home if you’re sick, wash your hands (which you should be doing anyway), and be careful it’s pretty simple. The mass hysteria by sheeple is ridiculous. It’s going to spread because the same nasty bastards that don’t wash their hands after going to the bathroom aren’t going to do so now.

The making this political is asinine. Turn on Fox News and it’s “this is another attack on Trump” turn on NPR, CNN, MSNBC and it’s “Trump didn’t do this or that, Republicans this and that”. Trump, Republicans, and Liberals are to blame for a lot of shit, but a virus isn’t one of them.

Here’s what’s going to happen (almost guaranteed) the mass hysteria is going to lead to the criminal element of society to show its ugly face. At some point there’s going to be looting, robberies, etc. Shit we’ve had 4 felony assault arrests just this week over toilet paper

All people included the President make judgement calls and sometimes they are right and sometimes wrong. The stakes are much higher obviously if you are the President.

Is it possible that a person that has been attacked for 3 years (some of it is certainly his own doing) has some built in skepticism of what they are being told and delays understanding the significance of the problem?

I think between that and the US government is ran by idiots that continually have their heads in their asses

This is the exact opposite of what the experts (doctors, scientists, etc.) are saying. And the really frustrating part about this is the majority of the people I see calling this overblown or saying its not a big deal are exactly the type of people (older people or sick people) that should be concerned.

Can confirm. I've been following this virus for several weeks, and had concerns about it when it was spreading in China.

What really frustrates me is that my Baby Boomer dad was somewhat concerned as well several weeks ago, but as the virus has spread so has the political fallout (As one could obviously expect. Any politician would never let a crisis go to waste). Now he is convinced that this virus is only being politicized for election purposes and is "just the flu bro".

People control their actions and are responsible for their actions alone, can't blame others (like the media) for how you respond.

The little amount of data we have isn't helping either. My opinion, people comparing this to the flu and other deaths is just flat out ignorant at this stage.

Adding an election to the mix doesn't help. It's a shame our political leaders are looking for an opportunity vs working together to make things better.

Yesterday, our governor, Mike Dewine, closed ALL schools in the state of Ohio at the end of the work day on Monday, March 16 through Friday, April 3. Our girls state tournament that was suppose to start yesterday, Thursday, was canceled along with the boys tournament next week. Baseball, softball and track are being delayed as of now and will probably be canceled as well by the end of the day today or Monday.

My youngest just got back from a school trip to Disney World over spring break. They left as the park was being shutdown.

The school district has opted to extend spring break by another week. I'm guessing her graduation in May is not going to happen.

Shitty time to put our house on the market.

We may never know the real truth as governments like to acquire more and mold hold over the people. I have seen a couple of articles that said the virus really hammers Asians harder than anyone else. China is up to around 1.6 billion people and has roughly the same land mass as the US. I think the very real possibility exists that the Angloshere realized that they allowed China to get too full of themselves and created this virus to start thinning the populace there. The other alternative is the Chinese allowed it to get out of their bio weapons lab in Wuhan. Not from a dead bat in a wet market. Boom!!! The news just announced Alabama’s first case.

They're about to pump billions into airlines, cruiselines, hotels, etc. along with others to try and prop the stock market back up. The most powerful person in the country/world spent three weeks telling us that it was no big deal and would be "practically gone" in days. It's no surprise. Finebaum opened up the callers to talk about COVID yesterday and almost every person that came on to talk about how overblown it is and how it's "no different than the swine flu" were the age you would expect.

One thing for certain, you are clueless if you think your government isn’t capable of such actions. I had a similar convo years ago with a former friend that the Chinese would need to be addressed as they are running out of room and will need to expand. My idea then was an engineered virus targeted towards them. Maybe I’m a sick bastard for thinking it but if I have , then the loonies in charge have also.

I didn't blame Trump for the Coronavirus, I blamed him for his inaction, ignorance and incompetence in dealing with it. Ironic as hell considering you literally just blamed him for "creating" it. You do realize he runs the government right? And I wasn't reacting to the thought that there might be a chemical weapon aimed at China or anywhere else. I was more reacting to your unbelievably stupid comment about a virus that only affects a certain ethnicity. There is literally no virus or bacteria that only affects one ethnicity. And the biological weapon that would do that is about as real as a lightsaber.

1st ANY stats released by organizations using the term Coronavirus is faulty.
CoVID 19 is the key term....
H1N1 outbreak was far more serious. The test we are currently using in Florida, (not sure which other states, but most I believe) simply test for upper respiratory corona.
So when we use the term Coronavirus, that is a broad term. This ranges from the common cold to CoVID 19. No illness should be taken lightly, and compromised immune systems are at a high risk.
5 cases per million is the running # in the US.

So going about my life like normal is just as bad as people thinking the world is ending? Please.
