| LIFE CV-19: Effects on life, work, and sports

People control their actions and are responsible for their actions alone, can't blame others (like the media) for how you respond.

The little amount of data we have isn't helping either. My opinion, people comparing this to the flu and other deaths is just flat out ignorant at this stage.

Adding an election to the mix doesn't help. It's a shame our political leaders are looking for an opportunity vs working together to make things better.

I'll call you out yet again since I feel your comments are pointed at me somewhat. Ignorant about what? You have still yet to prove how its affects are worse than the flu. Clearly there are differences or it would be called the flu, but as a whole it's very similar. I would also like to know what makes you on the right side of the discussion? Doctor? Physician? Got the virus or know someone that does? Just trying to understand why those that aren't freaking out and not taking extra precautions are the ignorant ones.

It's damned if you do and damned if you don't. If you buy up a year's supply of everything and go into off the grid survivalist mode, you are an idiot. And if you go on about your life, so much as going outside to cut the fucking grass, you are insane and asking for certain death. So what the fuck is the right damn thing to do? Seriously, I'm asking.

Who is saying that? Literally no one. Live your life but take precautions, that's not the same thing as saying "go live in a bubble." Most people can't afford to take 2-3 weeks off and stay home, so we live our lives. That also doesn't mean we should just pretend like nothing is happening and pray the sickness away.

See, this is where I personally think you are off. You say go about your life and use precaution, but yet you blame Trump and that his response wasn't swift and robust enough for your liking. You honestly think he was doing zero? Dude, the government is on this shit more than any of us can fathom. The president going on tv and scaring everyone is not the answer. You may not like his response, but I'll bet you houses they are working behind the scenes harder than you know.

Just watching the moronic UAW striking at ZF near Tuscaloosa. Those idiots will wish they waited when it comes to a screeching halt. A glut of cars unsold on a market coupled with this corona crap, not gonna be good.

I have nothing to prove. The data is out there.

The flu isn't dealt with this way. It really can't be more obvious.

Yes, Johns Hopkins explains it very thoroughly and there are more similarities than there are differences. I posted that link for you a day or so ago and never heard back.

You take this same stance with H1N1 when it infected 60M Americans with almost 13,000 deaths here? I know I felt the same way about that as I did this and everything was fine as a whole.

Guess I need to state this again for you... i have never said these were the exact same virus. Clearly they aren't or they would be called the same thing. I have said there are striking similarities between the two. You simply need a different vaccine because it is new. But even with vaccines, people still die of the flu. A HIGH percentage of those dying of corona have underlying issues, so they are simply vulnerable already.

Perhaps it’s more about fear mongering and gaining further control of the populace. The buzz words being batted around now are “social distancing” deliberately sowing fear and distrust of your fellow citizens.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that so far this season, there have been at least 15 million flu illnesses for the 2019-2020 season, 140,000 hospitalizations and 8,200 deaths in the U.S. The CDC reports there have been 54 reported flu-related pediatric deaths this season from Influenza B viruses.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the flu causes up to 5 million cases of severe illness globally and kills up to 650,000 people annually.

“When we think about the relative danger of this new coronavirus and influenza, there’s just no comparison,” Dr. William Schaffner, professor of preventive medicine and health policy at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, told Kaiser Health News. “Coronavirus will be a blip on the horizon in comparison. The risk is trivial.”

Grass cutting is allowed. Do you need my address?

What does going about your life and use precaution have anything to do with the government's response? And stop blaming me here man, the head of the CDC himself said they failed. Period. His words, not mine. Trump was warned months ago - I've provided links to the story in this very thread - about this shit and he chose to ignore it. States were told not to test to keep the "numbers down" so it looked good for him. He literally went on TV and said he wanted the people on that cruise ship to stay there because he wanted to "keep the numbers down."

Meanwhile a week later... Doctor calls suspension of NBA season ‘excellent response' to coronavirus outbreak

All true. His photo op at the CDC was a disaster.
