| FTBL 1st Round in '24, '25 CFP: The Playoffs - Games begin at noon: SMU v PSU, UC v TX, and UT vs OSU

The issue is, Milroe, just like SMU's quarterback, their decisions torpedo their team's ability to succeed. SMU's defense is pitching a shut out and giving their offense very good field position. It's all very similar to what we saw a lot.

Which is the same stuff we also saw from QB's like Nussmeier, Ewers, and Beck this year... all guys that will get drafted within the next 2 years. In conference, Dart probably had the best year in terms of "playing smart" but even he had his moments where it all went to shit.

I guess I don't see any of those guys as NFL talents. I'm not a GM, but none of them appear steady enough for a multi-million dollar investment.

Agree with you on Nussmeier and Ewers. Texas just plays nobody or you would be able to tell he kills their team. LSU was not in contention. Dart is decent, but has never commanded my attention turn in a way where I felt threatened by Ole Miss. Folks love them, but I'm indifferent.

On to Beck. Highly inconsistent, BUT, he proved all year long he could adjust within the game and give his team a shot in the end. I don't recall a game where he was the one who costed them the game. Alabama? Yes, he was BAD in the first half, but their defense also gave up 35. Ole Miss? Who team was just beat that game.

Milroe makes a mistake, it's over for the team.

I agree. Dont see any of " wow" talent. Games after game. Including milroe.

And for them to get first round draft money.

But seen it before.

GMs go simply off of potential though. Whether it be the runs like a deer, cannon for an arm, they base their picks on potential. If it costs them 30-40 million over 3 years, no big deal. They could hit a gold mine immediately too!
Look at Anthony Richardson coming out of college. Erratic at best with his accuracy, yet Indy still dished out a huge paycheck!

Am I crazy for thinking that Sarkisian is the closest thing to having a Saban style program right now? He has an outstanding defense that plays hard and tackles well. He has a monster offensive line that moves people out of the way and creates big holes. He has a strong running game and he likes to run. He has a game manager QB who is efficient and doesn't turn the ball over. And he puts emphasis on special teams. In my opinion that is a Saban team.

The losses to Vandy and Okie are inexcusable. However, the CFP is supposed to be the 12 best teams. Period. Not the 12 most "deserving" teams. Simple question: Would Bama have done better against ND and Penn State? Simple answer: Yes.
Take any of your rankings, like Jeff Sagarin or others of that ilk, and then put OU playing SMU's schedule. OU is in the playoffs.
