It's the wild wild west in the game we all used to love a little bit more than what its become.I’ve about reached the point with all these transfers and decommitments where I want to say fuck recruiting budgets and wasting investments on kids fresh out of high school. Let’s just devote our resources to attracting portal transfers and fill our roster full of upperclassmen who are all old enough and physically ready to play. If we are going to pretend football isn’t a developmental game, then let’s go all the way and stop trying to develop impatient kids who only want immediate gratification. Let’s let other schools crowd their rosters with incoming freshmen and redshirts while we move on to full-time poaching of mature upperclassmen. Forget culture, development, retention, waiting your turn, etc., let’s go get as many upperclassmen on our roster as possible every year and leave high school grads for the suckers.
If you’re in the top 12 moving forward, this won’t be an issue. And if you’re 13 or below, top players will sit out of minor bowls anyway. So I see no downside.
