| FTBL The Maze Pose/ showboating

Both penalties where crap calls. Agreed, not as bad as the last ref crew.

Yes the ref's for the KY game were a lot worse. It does seem that we get the celebration rule called on us for minor crap when it seems like some teams can all but tear down the goal posts and not get flagged. Whats up with not being able to get any good calls at home?

If you act on this side the line then the ref does not have to or cant make a discission. If you get close to the line or just over it you put in the hands of the ref to call or not to call.

If you don't give the ref a chance to make the call then no harm. I think this is the selfish part. I going to push the envelope so to speak. Don't even get close to showboating and you are doing what is best for the team.

Either way a crappy call by the ref imo. I would not have made it. It is a judgment call how ever you want to make it sound. I see far more celebration in other games that is not called. I am still a person that believes, "Act like you have been there", but these were not taunting or premeditated. Just think the were quick shows of emotion(Maze first td after a 7 game stretch of frustrations)..right or wrong I just did not feel either was a penalty. I just do not see how selfish it is to fire your crowd up and celebrate a few seconds. I doubt he will do it again tho. Simply put I am not justifying it just thinking I would not call that. :!:

If the refs are gonna call celebrating on a minor situation such as MM's then they need put the Gators on probation for a year. Tebow does the GATOR CHOMP after most of his touchdowns without a pitter patter from the officials.

If you're gonna enforce rules BE CONSISTENT!!!

No matter what is called and against whom, if we follow the rule will we be penalized? Teams don't often fare well when they have to kick off from the twenty.

I think Coach Saban jerked a knot in Maze's tail for that one.I thought that was some of the Tarrant City coming out in Maze. That penalty I felt was justified. The delay for flipping the ball away following the interception on the other hand was a lame call.

So in the minds of many of you, the "Sherman Shake" should have been the "Sherman slowly walk away."

That coach Stallings...he must not have been much of a disciplinarian to allow garbage like that.

Brilliant Big Fan!

Going into the endzone grabbing a sharpie that you strategically placed there before the game and signing the ball is one thing...but when did a little dance or pose ever hurt anyone. It shows passion...and while players should show class I am not sure what football would be without a little celebration.

I agree I dont want Bama players show boating and getting all arrogant. But lets not take emotion out of the game. These kids are young men playing a game. Maze just scored his first collegiate TD if he wants to bask in the glory fine! I didnt see anything worse from him than you see from Knowshon or other players scoring this weekend.

Do you not like the Lambeau Leap? Is that too much?

I don't understand why these two are used as examples in this thread.

The first, isn't against the rules, the second, wasn't against the rules.

Saban has his way of showing when he's disappointed in a refs call...he wasn't in this case, he was upset with the players actions.

Like the rule or not...it was a pose, and it was a move drawing attention to himself. That's against the rules. I knew it, you knew it, Maze knew it...

After watching the replay, I did not see anything that warranted a flag. It was in the moment and there were others around him. I just did not see anything even CLOSE to excessive celebration. Maybe it was not televised and I did not see it. If the penalty was thrown for something shown on TV, it was bogus. There was nothing worth penalizing, even by strict interpretation of the rule.

If Maze was legit, Tebow should be penalized every time he does the gator chomp. His action is far worse.

Wasn't that his First TD catch? If so I would of posed also. Ran the bleachers for Reger, and never do it again. :D

I'm with you on that! I mean it's the guy's first touchdown and he was stoked! These are still young people and emotion still plays a big part of stuff like that. He may never get a chance to get another one. It's not like he went all Chad Johnson and started River Dancing!!!

The whole act like you've been there before shouldn't apply here, he had never been there before.
