šŸˆ šŸ† Super Bowl LIX: Eagles win Super Bowl LIX 40-22 over KC Chiefs (Hurts, MVP)

Iā€™m so glad that monkeyā€™s off Bamaā€™s back. Every year my puppy dog friends have found a way to bring that surprising fact up at Super Bowl get togethers. Now, I so hope some our running back U teams get to the big game soon. Four of the top six RBā€™s by yards gained played for Bama at some point in their college careers. Plus two others were their teamā€™s primary back in 2024. I would think having six starting NFL RBā€™s in the same season who all played for the same college team at some point in their careers has to be some kind of record ā€¦ right? I certainly canā€™t think of that having happened before but I admit Iā€™m not a stats student.

Would love to see Derrick Henry get a ring and a couple of Super Bowl sores to put the icing on his career cake.

This is why I said technically. If we claim Hurts as being from Alabama, say, like Bama to Bama connection when he completed the pass to Smitty would that not hold true for his TD in the 1st Qtr.? :devilish:... yes, I'm being an šŸ«. :p

I thought Shaun Alexander would get on the board back in 2006. Heā€™d only had 28 TDs in the regular season. He got 95 yards rushing in the Bowl but no pay dirt.

Ah, but Jalen left because he was not going to start over Tua. So does the reason matter? Bond was on the receiving end of a miracle against Auburn. For the record guys, I'm just playing the Devil's Advocate here for some off-season discussion. :)
Jalen left with guidance from Saban to go to OU if memory serves correctly. Jalen needed a QB coach and Dan Enos was just that in ā€˜18, but left like a thief in the night. Sure, Jalen wasnā€™t going to unseat Tua, but he did stay 3 years, starting 2 of those and getting us to the championship game both years. Likely wouldā€™ve been the ā€˜16 Natty MVP had our defense not folded at the end. Jalen couldā€™ve jumped right after Tua completed the pass to Smitty to beat UGA, but he stood firm in his commitment. Saban knew he had little to no chance of keeping him one more season, so he encouraged him to go to OU and develop more under the tutelage of Riley. Lo and behold, he was a Heisman finalist in ā€˜19.

Jalen played 3 years at Bama.... Bonds played 1 year. We claim Dickerson who transferred from FSU. We also claim Coker who transferred in from FSU. I guess in the end no hard and fast rule but I have no problem claiming these guys our part of the Bama athletes. Bonds, just feels different to claim him.
Dickerson, Coker and Gibbs too, all finished their college careers at Bama. For whatever the reasons, Bonds and Jalen did not. Say Simpson leaves after this season if he doesn't win the starting job. Been at Bama 3 years āˆš, Not going to be the starter āˆš, Transfers to a better situation for him āˆš, claimable? I don't have an issue claiming them as former Bama players no matter their decision to leave, but we as fans tend to vilify the ones we don't "like" that transfers and praise the ones we do. Jalen contributed a lot to the program and earned his place, Bonds did the same his 2 years at Bama, he led the team in receptions in 2023. I guess it's in the way/reason we see them leave that makes the difference.
