There are so many places to go here this week against UTC. I am sure CNS is not a happy camper. Overall, I'd have to give this game a negative.

Good- CNS has won more games being ranked number one than any coach.

Bad- not mentally ready to play

Ugly- whew! Where to start?

Good: Hurts completed a pass of 20+ yards
Bad: Hurts is still struggling with passing. He can't find an open receiver, he throws late, and he's too quick to pull the ball down to run.
Ugly: Nagging injuries. The team wasn't ready for tonight. They were sluggish.

Hurts hasn't made any major bad decisions or plays, but I don't see how people can include him in the Heisman discussion. His big passing game last week came from dink passes (more a handoff than a pass) that the receivers took for big gains. He didn't hit anything of 20+ yards in the air. I was happy to see the long TD pass to Ridley tonight, but that was the only one. With the offensive line banged up, if Auburn puts pressure on Hurts next week and shuts down the run, we could be in trouble.

Saban looked like he was about to pop a blood vessel at halftime... really no one played well honestly. Just a horrible, sloppy, flat game all out. Not the time of the season you want a team to become complacent.

bad: 5 wide receivers on the field......and he calls a little run play up the middle. WTF?! we hardly ever tried going deep. i know it was utc, but if we don't try the deep ball next week, their defense is gonna have a good day with our run game.

ugly: that cold wind in the second half. i knew i shoulda worn my big coat, but stuck with just my hoodie instead.

Ugly: Sleep walking this late into the season. As good as UTC is at the FCS level, this game should have been over at the end of the first quarter. The OL

Here's the thing.

A lot of plays that may not seem to work out well might not be simply a bone-headed play call.

That 5 wide designed QB run, however marginally successful it might have been, wasn't just something Kiffin was trying to see if it worked.

It was a look. Something for future opponents to see and have to account for. With the real possibility of a QB run out of that set, now everyone in the back 7 will be peeking in the backfield for a couple seconds instead of dropping into coverage.

We may not have gone deep out of that play uesterday, but we will. Especially if the D gives Jalen the look he wants. If those safeties walk down just a step or two presnap, Ridley or Stewart will be wide open over the top.
