🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. UM

Good:
-Mac looks capable of leading a high level offense. He doesn't have the cannon but has some good instincts and anticipates throws. I like his overall ability to lead... And the last couple games are great experience if he's around next season.

-Punting. Don't know what happened to Perine but Bernier did pretty good! Killed a few inside the 5, those are huge.

-The combo of Josh Jobe & Christian Harris... Both looked very competent. Those guys getting an opportunity this season should def pay off down the road. I feel good about Jobe as a #2 next year if the JUCO kid doesn't work out, and C. Harris playing alongside Moses should look great.

Bad:
-Overall inability to make plays on D. The second half was good... But there was never any pressure applied on the Michigan O. Pass rush was meh, LB's were bad in coverage, DL didn't get much penetration. DB's were in pretty good position and didn't get beat deep, which was an improvement. But still - the only TO forced was just an atrocious throw. Aside from X McKinney you just don't see those impact/difference making plays. Moses should bring that next year.

Ugly:
-Losing the LOS on both sides of the ball for the majority of the game. N. Harris made it look good there at the end, but for the most part their DL and OL had the upper hand. The 2 deep balls minimized the overall impact of that battle, but we were not the more physical team up front. JMO

Good Win, Mac, Harris, Jeudy

Bad First half defense

Ugly No call on DL who went head first into Mac's face all the way to the turf. Reffs and announcers pissed me off on that play.
Now that not the one that got flagged? Because our old QB said that shouldn't had been flagged, because that is part of the game?

Good:
My concern, several games this year the team hasn't looked focused in the 1st half. Not sure why, but the coaches need to address this.
being at the game, my biggest complaint is the TV timeouts. Way to many and way too long! No wonder our players lose momentum and focus. If you recall their first drive we stopped them and then we score on our first offensive play.

good: Mac Jones play for the most part, Christian Harris showing growth, Josh Jobe play.

Bad: ugly missed holding calls on Michigan o line. I thought Saban was-going to have a Come apart. Sarkisian play calling at times.

Ugly: penalties at bad times by the oline. Dickerson, leatherwood and wills all jumped offside at key times. Coverage ability of Shane lee. He showed speed when chasing down the QB but showed no ability to cover the back out of the backfield.

There seemed to be some weird timing going on with Dickerson's snapping going back to Auburn. If you remember, Wills lost his sh*t on him after a few false starts... I noticed on Wills false start that Dickerson himself kind of hesitated on the snap. He also drew a false start on himself another time. Something funky with that whole snapping system the last 2 games.

I also thought Michigan was holding their asses off... Frustrating as hell.

To add another bad - Potentially Ugly. 2 different special teams TO's called because the personnel wasn't right. Looked like we were trying to run a fake punt on that first one... On another one in the second half we had too many guys on the field and had to burn one. After the inability to count to 11 vs Auburn, how can there be this much confusion yet again on 4th down? Sheesh.

Good: Dickerson didn't act like baby and get a personal foul. Mac looks like the QB we know he can be. and the type od QB we can win it all with. Don't be surprised if he has a Joe Burrow like season next year. Hint. I expect Mac will be a our QB next year. Hint #2 Tua will not play QB for anybody next year regardless of if he returns or declares. 2021 could be interesting because he could redshirt at Bama and be ready to play then for us.

Also good: defensive adjustment at the half. We started shifting the alignment just prior to the snap. this make it difficult for 5 guys to all adjust their blocking assignment on the fly. Second half shut out.

Bad: Dickerson has another false start penalty at a crucial time in the game.

Ugly: We didn't take a knee at the end of the game. Something about having to shake hands before the time is off the clock … just saying.

One last couple comment.......
That hasnt been hit....but a little....
Our fricking special teams confused again....
A coach is there to handle STs....and confused again...( and remember AUat end of game with wrong personnel on field...and one to many)
Also...it was from McElroy in the booth....that ...said...when Michigan was setting up for along long FG....with no time left....at half.... about putting #17 back at goal to return it... awesome idea....and bamais paying someone big bucks...that cant get right personnel on field....at critical times...and an announcer comes up with a great potential play.... just saying

Great point, I had the same thought yesterday at the game!

Lone Waite...….All I have is a piece of hard rock candy. But it's not for eatin'. It's just for lookin' through.

What I see/saw is the talent decline on the defensive side at Bama is real. There wasn't one elite defensive player on the field for Bama yesterday. Not one of those players could have started on the 2011 defensive team or the 2016 defense. While watching UGA play defense it is clear their talent level is much better than ours. Their speed makes us look like we're in slow motion. Nick has more work to do than just revise his staff on defense.

Happy New Years
