🏈 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly vs. Jawga

It's clear BoB had his head elsewhere and mailed in this offensive game plan. Red zone O playcalling was the worst all year.

Fuck you, BoB.

And his apologists would say "he has a Heisman winner with him at the helm".

Pfft. Bryce Young would've won the Heisman with fucking Gomer Pyle calling the plays.

Good riddance.

Good: I had all my Bama bucks on UGA (purely a business decision). And our D was good the first half. And that strange fumble play that Battle luckily picked up.

Bad: Losing Williams. 4th quarter D, 4th quarter O. To’o To’o blitzing and in coverage. UGA having 8.7 yards per pass attempt and 4.7 yards per rush. We had 6.5 and 1.1. Yes, 1.1 yard per rush.

Ugly: Jackson in coverage. Stetson beating us for a NC and having a lot better stat line than Young while only throwing to Bowers 4 times.

Did Stetson Bennett the 4th really just win a NC? Stetson did what he needed to do. Georgia’s D did the bend but don’t break and forced us to attempt 5 field goals and go 0-1 on 4th down.

The Bookie is living the high life tonight after raking in about $14.5MM, putting some folks in poverty 😂

In retrospect, I must say that it was quite evident tonight that Georgia was better than Alabama in practically every position outside of QB and WR. When it became a battle of attrition, I could sadly tell that Georgia was going to outlast us the same way Nebraska outlasted Miami in the 1995 Orange bowl.

I said it in the game thread, and I'll say it again, the injury to Williams will be one of college football's great "what if" moments. As far as the legacy of this Alabama team, I will say that they over achieved by a long shot this year. And that is saying a lot. The 2020 Alabama Crimson Tide team was one of the great college football teams of all time, and this team valiantly defended their title this year. If Bryce Young wasn't on this team, they would not have even made it past Auburn in Jordan Hare Stadium.

Going forward, I think the biggest concern is probably addressing the horrible offensive line play this year and developing the younger guys at WR. Doug Marrone should be shit canned this year IMO.

As far as the national implications of this game, I don't think it will really affect Alabama all that much in the long run. You might hear some stupid Skip Bayless type takes such as "Saban is washed up!" or "Alabama's reign is coming to an end!", and both of those takes are cringey at best. Some will certainly talk about about how both of Alabama's losses this year came at the hands of Saban's former assistants, which at some point was a mathematical certainty considering 70% of SEC coaches are former Saban assistants. He is the GOAT, but even greats like Bill Belicheck had losses in the super bowl (3 to be exact).

Good - BY early game playing and Late game running

Bad - 1st and goal from inside the 10 and too many passes. Should've just lined up and forced them to stop BroB. Especially when we had it around there in the 2nd quarter and they were gassed.

Ugly - Drops...so many drops this game, so many 1st downs and at least 1 touchdown dropped.

Good: Despite all the injuries, the BAMA boys still competed and had a chance to win this til' they ran out of gas.

Bad: Dropped passes. Hard to be too upset at this tho. Our best guys were out and we had to depend on cold, young and inexperienced guys who'd been on the bench all year.

Ugly: All the injuries this season and tonight. Even with just Williams in I think this is a much different game, not even to speak of Metchie and our starting corners, running back depth etc. Hard to win when your best guys are out.

My sister was complaining about all the field goals in the first half saying she didn't want to see anymore. I told her that was a monkey paw comment but she was adamant because she wanted it to be a pretty win with all the touchdowns and stats to match. I just wanted the win. I think she's learned her lesson now. I was completely content watching Bama kick field goals all night for the win and Reichard being named MVP. Only the win matters.

All in all it was a great season. I didn't think we had the horses to win SECCG but we did and with even less horses for the CG still kept it competitive. I figured if we won this game it would be CNS's best coaching job at BAMA and give us a REALLY good chance to three-peat. If we can find/develop some playmakers at WR this team should crazy good next year.

Good - Brian Robinson ran really hard tonight. Cameran Latu played well. The defense was damn good most of the night. Probably 3.5 quarters worth.

Bad - The playcalling on offense. No clue why we go deep after nickel and diming them all night long. I think three possessions inside the ten and we settle for field goals. Just pathetic.

Ugly - how we just stopped getting pressure on defense the last two drives. What the absolute hell happened? The defense was lights out for most of the night and all of a sudden we put our corners in a rough position just asking to get beat. Just terrible in the 4th quarter. We played the fourth quarter like Kirby coached the last few games. I made the dang point that Bennett could do it, and he did. We held him in check as per norm most of the game and all of a sudden we had a lapse in calls and allowed him to beat us. That upsets me more than anything.

I hate calling players out, but Billingsly looked like crap tonight. He looked like he did not want to be there and Bryce clearly showed he needed him. How unfortunate with what he had in front of him at one point.

Good- The team has heart and never quits no matter how much adversity was thrown at them tonight or for that matter all year.
Bad- Red zone offense.
Ugly- The D letting down in the 4th qtr. A Bennett led team should never be able to beat Bama.

Time for the thread for who is leaving for the NFL and who’s not. And now, who’s transferring. I don’t remember who starts that one. I hope Billingsly transfers, like I said during the game and said during many games this year. Went from potential stud to dud and the coaches kept him on the field most of the snaps. Could have tried some young guys in that spot that would have done just as much of not better.

What's all this "they were the better team" shit? We had the lead in the 4th quarter and drove down the field all game long on them. Defense played well. Our coaching failed us at times, but damn if our boys didn't go toe to toe all game long. We looked better than they did until the coaches did whatever they did.

Good: Honestly to me, this team went beyond my expectations with what they lost from last year paired with the injuries this year. Take LSU for example 2019 = World beaters, 2020 = Sucked, they lost pretty equal to the same talent. IMO, next year will determine if Kirby has merit as a good HC. Hats off to them this year, they had a really good team, but IMO, with the talent they had this year and what we lost last year they should have skull drug us in the SECCG this year and coasted through the NC, much like we did last year....IMO, this is the difference in the mental aspect of the players CNS requires and coaches over the other HC's in college football.

Bad: Don't think I need to explain anything here.

Ugly: Or here.
