| CURRENT EVENTS The Border Bill. I've got what I think is a simple question. Thoughts?

There are several different aspects of the proposed bill I don't like. If I were sitting in Washington, I'd have voted against the bill. No second thoughts.

There is one thing about that proposal that just doesn't make sense to me given what we've been told.

One of the components of the bill is they would stop border crossings, every day, when they reach the 5000 limit. If I understand this correctly, #4999 and #5000 can get in, but #5001 is stopped (until tomorrow.)

If they have the ability to stop at 5000 doesn't that mean they have the ability to stop at 1?

On a serious note. This goes for Republicans, Democrats, Independents and yes sadly, those who want socialism. As far as the media goes, each side only bashes the others and is only becoming more and more biased. As far as politicians, the vast majority of them only see their side of things and couldn't give a rats ass if it was the best decision if it meant crossing political lines. Our government. It's sadly became more corrupt then ever on both sides...... Trump. Biden. The greatest country there is and those are our options. Truth be known, they probably both belong in jail along with a lot more people who are part of our government system. As far as our society, it's just became one giant cluster f$$$. Regardless of political views, our society should be above storming the capital, burning the American flag, causing chaos in the streets when holding rallies, using violence or destroying property. The list goes on and on.
At least 90% of them all belong in jail or worse, unfortunately…..

It’s the top concern, but yet according to a right winger in 2018 it was a “top concern” too and yet while the right had the White House and both chambers of congress they did nothing, so tell me was it not a top concern then to you or is it only now because there’s a democrat in the White House? Because you damn sure weren’t ranting and raving about it before
Another two way street, eh? It's just like the argument we've heard on abortion: when the left had the House, Senate, and White House. The same applies to the border. The comment is projection: weak at its core.

I'm not ranting and raving now. I was commenting on the situation then, and long before then. Again. Bull shit thrown against the wall.

but yet according to a right winger in 2018

I'm not sure who are you talking about here. But damn, man. I mean, DAYUM! Do you even realize what you've just said?

2018, when we are in the middle of the border wall discussions. 2018, when AOC was pulling her photo op at the wall; crying.

2018, when the US Customs and Border Patrol reported the largest case of illegal immigrants since 2012:

Approximately 467,000 that year.

Ranting and raving about ... the CBP reported over 175,000 in January of this year. Homeland Security reported over 370,000 in December of 2023. There's two months with higher numbers of "reported" encounters than the entire year of '18. And that's the year you want to reference? 🤷‍♂️

Ranting and raving about ... more let in over the border than the population of half of the states in this country.

Ranting and raving about ... CBP reporting 3.2 million in FY 2023.

Remember, as it was getting progressively worse in 2023, "there is no border crisis. The border is secure."

Again I’ll ask….if the border was/is so damn important to the right why didn’t they do anything about it when they had control of the WH, Senate, and the House? They did nothing.

Again I’ll ask if the border is so damn important to the right then why don’t they go to the dems with a logical bill? Pretty fucking simple man, they don’t want a secured border because they lose that argument in an election and now they don’t want a bill because it “will help Biden” plain and simple, so don’t come at me about the fucking border when your side hasn’t and won’t do anything other then jump on Fox or wherever else the right goes in media and bitch and moan about Biden and the border, they’ve done nothing even when they had complete control of the government.

So, the dems didn’t do anything about reproductive rights when they were in control because then they lose an issue that they can use to bitch and moan about during elections the same can be said about the right and the border, so let’s stop the bullshit of the right cares about securing the border because they don’t care about that issue any more than the left cared about securing reproductive rights

The border was under control at that time. No administration has had zero illegal border crossings but under Biden there have been more than 7.2 million (that we know of). This doesn’t include the 30,000 per month that Biden is flying in directly.

The border was under control at that time…..weird that a conservative republican doesn’t think so…..

Rep Ken Buck (Colorado) “we haven’t done anything on the border even when we had the White House, the House, and the Senate, but now we act like it’s the absolute most important thing and we still won’t do anything, we can’t agree on a border bill even as republicans to vote on or to send to the Senate, we’ve only accomplished on telling our presumed nominee that we won’t do anything to help the President, so we’re not worried about the border, we just like to get on tv and say we do”

And again, I'll answer. 🙃 You are wrong. :devilish:

The last time this happened was the 115th United State Congress: 2017. That administration implemented "Stay in Mexico." That administration started building the wall.

Would that be an example of "doing something?"

Again I’ll ask if the border is so damn important to the right then why don’t they go to the dems with a logical bill? Pretty fucking simple man

I, with others, were against this bill because of Ukraine funding. Yes. It's pretty simple. As easy as 1,2, and 3.

He starts off the State of the Union with Ukraine. Yesterday, at the White House, he starts off his "St. Patrick's Day" comments with Ukraine. The border bill: Ukraine.

Suggestion: Go to Lowe's, Garden Department. Look for the herbicides. You are really lost in the weeds.

It was a comparison. Your response is both animated and cartoonish.

The "They should have done something when they ..." I find it a weak argument. If for anything, the problems are FAR worse today than they were five years ago.

What I do find ironic is its use in this context when we're seeing about as many illegal immigrants entering the country in a couple of months as there were in the entire year of '17.

Literally. It was seen as a problem in 2017. It was a part of Trump's platform and a part of his tenure as POTUS. He issued executive orders, fought by members across the aisle, to make the border more secure.

And the response is, "why did they do something ..."

You can continue to spout your right wing nonsense, but just because you think you’re right and other right wing people on here agree with you doesn’t make you absolutely right.

I’ve already stated this several times and this goes back to what I’ve told you several times you don’t read what I write or you just chose to take parts to spew your right wing diatribe, it’s one of the other. A conservative plain and simply said that Repubs haven’t done shit on the border even in 2018 when Repubs had control of the WH, the House, and the Senate, I didn’t pull this shit out of my fucking ass, a CONSERVATIVE rep from Colorado when giving a reason why he was leaving congress said it. So, I don’t care about what Trump’s platform was I’m telling you what a CONSERVATIVE rep said.

Fine don’t support that particular bill because of Ukraine being tied to it, but repubs haven’t gone back to Biden with a border bill, all they’ve done is go on Fox News, OAN, and whatever other right wing news station and bitched and moaned about the border. That same rep from above stated that Trump had called house repubs and told them not to support any bill On the border because it would help Biden, so you can type all the words you want the fact of the matter is the border doesn’t mean shit to the right they just want talking points in hopes they can bamboozle enough Americans to get their Orange Jesus elected.

I'll ask again.

IF they haven't done anything on the border what were the executive orders Biden removed his first day in office?

Those were border policies canceled by the current administration.

For anyone to say they haven't done anything? It is a blatant lie.

Trump: Stay in Mexico as a policy.
Biden: Removed Stay in Mexico.

How is this not doing something?

They started building a wall. They built a portion of the wall. I have seen the wall. But, I'm not supposed to believe what I see because someone said, "they aren't doing anything."

Damn dude.
You can continue to spout your right wing nonsense,
And yet to be proven. What's been nonsense?

Right, but also wrong.

H.R. 29 - Border Safety and Security Act of 2023.
H.R.2 - Secure the Border Act of 2023.

Two bills proposed but not brought before Biden. If they don't get out of Congress, they don't get in front of Biden.

(Do we need Schoolhouse Rock to be broadcast in Prime Time?)

HOWEVER, the mere mention of "bringing it to Biden" is another case of bullshit.

By executive order Trump instituted "Stay in Mexico," and by executive order Biden canceled the same order...he can, today, reinstitute that order.

It's within his power. He doesn't exercise said power. This narrative "he needs Congress to bring him a bill" is not true. It's a blatant lie to the American people.

The EOs that Biden signed were in relation to separating children from families, I don’t know the others, so I’d have to look.

I didn’t lie, a CONSERVATIVE said it, not me.

Bring a bill to Biden, shit man that isn’t hard to grasp. I’d suggest Repubs bring better bills then. Hell Biden on tv four times said for Trump to work with him, but he wont why? Because it helps Biden.

The EOs that Biden signed were in relation to separating children from families, I don’t know the others, so I’d have to look.
Let me help you out here. The EO's weren't ONLY about separating children.

Alejandro Mayorkas, in 2021 during an interview on MSNBC, bragged about how many executive orders they had struck down: Trump's border policies.

“We have rescinded so many Trump immigration policies it would take so much time to list them.”
I didn’t lie, a CONSERVATIVE said it, not me.
Hold up.

The statement "Nothing was done" was a lie. He, this conservative you mention, lied.

OR, wait. Mayorkas lied when he said he couldn't count the number of policies they had struck down on the border?

One, or the other, isn't true.

But hang on another minute ...
Again I’ll ask….if the border was/is so damn important to the right why didn’t they do anything about it when they had control of the WH, Senate, and the House? They did nothing.

This isn't a case of you citing what that guy said. That's your opinion: and not the first time you've suggested such.

...and you don't read, watch, or listen to opinions and ideas coming from those on the other side of the aisle? 🤷‍♂️

A bill, that was for the border and border alone, wasn't a good bill. Who kept it from reaching the desk of POTUS? This makes no sense to me. How is a border bill, with money specific to the border of the US, a bad bill? It was rejected because of ... you know the answer.

A bill, that had a fraction of the money for the border, but more for Ukraine and Gaza, is a good bill. Right at two thirds of the money going to something OTHER than the border...how do you not see this?

"Trump" won't work with him. Seriously. Is this supposed to be a joke? What office does he hold within the government?

He needs Trumps help. He needs help from Congress. Geez. He's the President for god's sake.

Ya know, back in '15 or '16 Biden mentioned a "unrelenting stream of immigration" and said, "that not a bad thing." Its not a bad thing. As long as it's done correctly and within the law. That is not happening.

It wouldn’t surprise me if the conservative lied, that’s all the right does.

“That’s your opinion”- it is my opinion, but I was led to said opinion partially because of the conservative saying what he said.

“You don’t read, watch, or listen to opinions and ideas coming from the other side of the aisle”- talk about a fucking lie, this also shows you don’t know shit about me and don’t listen when I say something (not the first time this has come up), I actively listen to everybody that speaks to me, I’ve read/listened to everything you’ve and every righty on this site has said during our interactions on here, I just happen to disagree with damn near everything y’all on the right say, big difference.

“A fraction of the money for the border”- that’s a fucking lie. The bill had billions for the border, to hire more BP agents, hire more CBP officers, and to secure said border, it was bipartisan (I don’t give a shit if it was 40 repubs or 400, it was bipartisan) then Orange Jesus started calling all the righties and they can’t go against their imperial leader and that’s what changed, Speaker Johnson has two gods, Trump and the Christian god, his most important god said don’t support it, so he killed it. Ukraine money was added and as I said even if you eliminate Ukraine from the picture the right doesn’t support it because their Orange messiah said “don’t support any border bill because it helps Biden”, then you’d come with some other bullshit reason for why you don’t support it, give me a break dude.

“He needs Trump’s help” first correct thing you’ve said, he does need Trump’s help because your cultist congressmen/women won’t do anything unless their Orange Messiah gives them the go ahead, so yes he needs Trump’s help because he is the puppet master to Johnson, Stefniak, Pervert Gaetz, Handjob Boebert, that Jezzebel from Georgia, etc and they won’t do shit unless the Orange Messiah gives his blessing. Jesus man this isn’t hard to figure out if you’re not a righty.

I dont watch Fox News or any other right wing media.

You said this. In this thread. How is it a lie?

“A fraction of the money for the border”- that’s a fucking lie.

A FUNDING BREAKDOWN

Total size: $118.3 billion. That includes:

  • About $60 billion in military aid for Ukraine
  • $14.1 billion in aid for Israel
  • $4.83 billion in aid for the Indo-Pacific region
  • $10 billion in humanitarian assistance for Ukraine, Israel, Gaza, among other places
  • $2.3 billion in refugee assistance inside the U.S.
  • $20.2 billion for improvements to U.S. border security
  • $2.72 billion for domestic uranium enrichment

How is this a lie?

I said:

Right at two thirds of the money going to something OTHER than the border...how do you not see this?

Two thirds: meaning a third of the money is going to the border. I was generous.

60 billion to Ukraine. 20 billion to the border. It's a third of the money sent to Ukraine alone. I'll concede the 2.3 billion for "refugee assistance" as border help.

Of the 118 billion, less than 20% is going to the border.

Where is the lie?

He needs no help with changing border policy. He wants help passing that bill. A difference is found there.

To suggest such? It is intellectually dishonest. I don't use the word, "gaslighting." The word "lie" is perfect.

We’re not sending Ukraine actual money nor have we, we’ve sent weapons and the money int he bill you’re outlining was for more weapons.

20.2 billion for the border….if the right wanted more they shouldn’t added border to the fucking 881 billion dollar defense budget they passed you know defense and all, but they didn’t and why is that? Pretty simple they have zero interest in securing the border with Biden in office because then they lose their bitch chip and they have to think of something else to campaign on and their chicken shit Orange Jesus will give them their marching orders

He said “Let’s work together on a bill for the border and get it passed” didn’t ask him to help with this bill in particular.

He in fact wants help passing a bill because chicken shit republicans don’t do anything unless Orange Jesus gives them his approval, so no shit he needs help passing a bill because again those spineless, chicken shit republicans don’t do anything without Orange Jesus telling them what to do. If you walked into any of their offices you’d see holes in the ceilings from Trump saying jump and those cowards jumping and saying “Yes sir”.

To say republicans do anything other than what their Orange Jesus says is a blatant fucking lie.
