There are several different aspects of the proposed bill I don't like. If I were sitting in Washington, I'd have voted against the bill. No second thoughts.

There is one thing about that proposal that just doesn't make sense to me given what we've been told.

One of the components of the bill is they would stop border crossings, every day, when they reach the 5000 limit. If I understand this correctly, #4999 and #5000 can get in, but #5001 is stopped (until tomorrow.)

If they have the ability to stop at 5000 doesn't that mean they have the ability to stop at 1?

Nobody is getting violent on weed, that’s the biggest “drug” that’s been decriminalized as it should be nationwide.

The DOE isn’t teaching lgbtq issues, I’d suggest turning off right leaning media. The states with the lowest graduating rates, higher education degrees are all repub controlled states, so is that because they’re too busy teaching issues rather than math, science, etc?

The DOE doesn’t teach anything. The DOE’s mission “is to promote student achievement and preparation for global competitiveness by fostering educational excellence and ensuring equal access.” More specifically it is charged to:

• Establishing policies on federal financial aid for education, and distributing as well as monitoring those funds.
• Collecting data on America's schools and disseminating research.
• Focusing national attention on key educational issues.
• Prohibiting discrimination and ensuring equal access to education

I don’t see where, or how, lgbtq education fits.

The people of Mississippi elected their legislative body. That body, along with their elected governor, passed a measure regarding medical law in Mississippi.

The people have spoken. But this time it's NOT okay. Even though the will, and wants, of those who live in Mississippi have been met.

The people in California are mad at the people in Mississippi due to their laws on abortion. The people in Mississippi are ... well, they aren't mad at the people in California on their new law regarding Cal-Med. I'd say, it's more of a "none of my business" kind of approach, eh?

I will say this; unabashedly. When you have a person, or a group of people, more concerned with the use of the word "illegal" versus "undocumented" when talking about someone who is a murderer...when you are talking about someone who broke the law in other cities before committing that murder...and the focus is on "do you regret using the word "illegal?"

Listening to people that were there with Trump that aren’t running around on their knees gobbling up his orange jizz have all said he was out of his element when it came to the border and many other things. His policies were separate kids from parents and build a wall and make it harder for people to come here legally and for legitimate asylum, so spare me the Trump had great policies while Biden’s are terrible.

That's a two way street. School districts with a mandated "push" of DEI programs have also seen horrid test scores.

With few exceptions, I believe we can both agree the educational system is broken. The nation, and its educational system, is falling behind: some cases woefully. And on that note, I don't see anything coming from the DOE that looks to improve the situation.

These states with the lower graduation rates are also the states on the forefront of school choice, are they not?

Here’s the issue- the right has made it sound cool to bash the school systems, the right has convinced the unintelligent that they’re just as smart as intelligent people, the right has convinced people that people like me that are educated are elitists and are ruining the country, the right has convinced people and shown people that education isn’t that important, and the right has shown people that they “the uneducated” know more than experts in any given field.

The DOE can’t improve things in red states when red states don’t want shit to improve, for instance Wyoming has had woefully low graduation rates for over a decade and refused to do anything to improve it and now they’ve decided that the DOE both federally and state are at fault meanwhile they put somebody in to run the state DOE that has zero experience in education, has never been a teacher, and thinks thats going to improve things because in this state’s GOP’s opinion “only Wyoming knows how to improve Wyoming education” meanwhile their graduation rates have dropped year by year.

Here’s one of the issues if the people of Mississippi want to go to California to get a procedure that’s deemed illegal Mississippi wants to prosecute those people for doing so. Same with Texas. So, even though it’s illegal in MS, TX, etc after a certain period shouldn’t said citizens be allowed to go get said procedure done in a different state?

The states should be responsible for their own education systems. The DOE should be available to guide each state and have assistance programs to boost graduation rates as needed. There are enough monitoring metrics to identify what needs to improve. Tie in incentives for achieving improvement (not measured by the state).

On a serious note. This goes for Republicans, Democrats, Independents and yes sadly, those who want socialism. As far as the media goes, each side only bashes the others and is only becoming more and more biased. As far as politicians, the vast majority of them only see their side of things and couldn't give a rats ass if it was the best decision if it meant crossing political lines. Our government. It's sadly became more corrupt then ever on both sides...... Trump. Biden. The greatest country there is and those are our options. His policies, which resulted in children being separated from their parents for breaking the law of the United States, didn't make it harder for people to come here legally. Those avenues remain open now, as they were yesterday, and the day before.

There are democrats voters in Wyoming, a whopping 1.2% of the population voted democrat in 2020….yet Wyoming and many other red states are the largest users of Medicaid and food stamps and if they’re voting democrat then those states wouldn’t be red, pretty simple
