šŸŒŽ The 'arguments' about what should be covered by SNAP benefits intrigues me. And yes, I believe there's some personal bias here.

Societies that systematically redistribute wealth to mothers who choose to procreate without a committed male protector and provider in the home all share the same fate: destruction. We should have regarded long ago any policy as a threat to national security which undermined the nuclear biological family. Because that’s what it is. Long ago we sacrificed the Holy Trinity of father, mother, and child at the alters of the false gods of ā€œwomen’s liberation,ā€ ā€œmodernity,ā€ and ā€œpoverty reduction.ā€ It is fool’s errand to believe in a ā€œfreedomā€ that denies the biological imperatives of sex and gender or to believe in ā€œraising living standardsā€ by separating responsibility from decision-making.
For all of this we owe Lyndon Johnson, the most disastrous American President of the 20th Century, whose most enduring destruction was that of the urban Black family. Have a mature male living in your household? Well, there go your welfare benefits unless he scrams.

Am I the only one old enough to remember when such benefits took the form not of cash or debit cards but of government commodities, i.e. actual surplus food? In retrospect, not such a bad idea.

Here's irony for you.

A guy I've known for years, decades, I deal with in Mary Jane. He's in that group with one of the best family structures you could imagine.

Ya ain't wrong. It's just wild looking at reality from my point of view. Literally, it's all about the reality you create: in this case, your family

I might be little high...

When people sign up for food stamps, the females must be required to get a seven year Dalkon Shield or Norplant implanted.. that would solve a tremendous amount of the problems
...and you wonder why I think your opinions are induced by sniffing Great Value bleach. I get it. It was the brand.

Yep mobile or Montgomery station was interviewing a 5'3" 300lb lady with a Pepsi 2 liter in her buggy complaining about having to go to 4 or 5 food banks to keep eating. She should've stopped with 1.
Here's what is so stupid to me. Today.

Oven baked catfish. (Got a great way of cooking this one.)
Greens, mixed. Turnip and mustard.
Steamed corn.
Texas toast.

Caught.
Grown.
Bought at the market.
Bakery.

Maybe $3?

Talked about that with a buddy a few days ago.
If you have a 1/4 acre spot to garden you can grow a lot of food. Hunting and fishing licenses are cheap. I'd be willing to bet most people would be ok with the state offering free or reduced licenses to people eligible for Snap of they would give up their snap benefits or at least a portion. Alaska has subsistence hunting areas where poor people can hunt year round to supplement their food source. Seems like people used to take every opportunity before taking a government hand out and now the hand out is their first option.

@Krimson

Since I'm thinking about this...the way any white tastes when cooking in real butter is a world of difference. REAL butter.

I spent three days, a couple of hours a day, hitting the lakes. It's about an hour drive. Dock fishing. I have 28 filets in the deep freezer the size of Fulmer's hand. Yeah. That thick. Lake Marion.

I got a text a few minutes ago about going out and grabbing some Snapper. I'll hit a few red drum today and keep those. LOL...stocked on Snapper.

That's part of my problem with the whole fucking thing. I can take my cast net out to Mt P. and catch a cooler full in a few hours when the tide comes in. In shrimping season, bait season? Damn. A cooler in an hour. Been there. Done that.

I think it pisses me off because people don't realize what a line in the water for a few hours means.

Real butter, lard and olive oil are about all I ever use. Don't ever remember buying margarine.
I have no doubt I could stay full with a fishing rod and a few hooks and a 22 rifle with cartridges

Caveat: The utube video I posted above, ( post 87 ) Game Over, is about the numbers of illegals getting more SNAP benefits than American citizens receiving benefits, + many other benefits to boot. There are clips of Congressmen and Senators as well as Speaker of the House Johnson explaining their positions.
When Trump was sworn in back in Jan., he wrote, signed E.O.'s reclaiming some benefits back away from illegal aliens. But, in many Blue sanctuary states and cities, their leaders are still breaking laws and giving illegals money, housing, health care, food (snap), social security numbers, so they can obtain drivers license, hence, an ID to be able to vote. Many social security numbers were stolen recently, and assigned to illegals. Also are given free phones and cell service.

So the numbers may no be as lop sided now as they were under the Biden Admin, they are still high in Blue run states.
