| FTBL SEC adds the 9th bowl tie in...

Short of having the new bowl with St. Petersburg, FL, The Birmingham deal sounds great.

-More bowl $$$ for the conference.
-More T.V. exposure.
-More teams benefiting from the extra practices.
-Better for Birmingham.

The only difficult part is the Conference vs. Conference comparisons that always pop up. You just know that the statistic won't take into consideration that our #9 had to play against another conference's #4 or #5. Hardly fair there, right?

Except from the fact their #4~5 team is as good as the #9 team in the SEC :)

That's what bugs me. Our #4 does not play their #4. How many more would we win with apples-to-apples comparison. Our #9 gets paired with their #4, who is as good as our #9, so the game could go either way. Then if we don't beat the odds, ESPN will call us weak because we go 5-4 or 4-5 during the bowls.

If one looks at the pairing is the bowls they will find that about half of our bowls don't have apples-to-apples match ups.

But then, this is our blessing...there are no other #9s to play.

The vast majority of our bowl tie-ins are weighted against the league. The best example that I can think of is the Chik-Fil-A Bowl. It's 5th pick SEC against the 2nd pick (usually the 2nd best team) of the SEC.
