📝 RB Dameon Pierce decommits from Alabama

Looks like we lost a guy in the 2018 class. Down to two now, but I know we are waiting on the rest. I get where the kid is coming from, and I don't like making fun of high school kids, but his comment about too much competition being overwhelming says it all. Alabama has created a wolf den where everyone is ruthless and fights for the chance to play. If you don't have the mentality that you're the best, you're gonna be last. Our program to me is a lot like the Wolf of Wallstreet. We're a team, but our boys fight and scratch to play. Alabama is just not the place for this guy. Georgia, Clemson, or whomever else can have a guy that is scared away like that.

Bama low on '18 recruits after decommitment

If there's 1 spot I ain't trippin' on it's RB. 2 stud freshman already on campus and proven soph already in the mix. Emmons is a wildcard but it's hard not to be high on him. Would have been ideal to red shirt him last year, but hard to imagine Jacobs would play such a key role (until it mattered...I know, too soon).

I'd imagine 2 RB's in the class, and if Saban really wants Pierce back, he could be one. Anymore the early commitment seems like more of a curse than a blessing. Just so damn long to hold onto these guys. There isn't the high level in state backs which could make things interesting... But maybe Martin or Provens gets a camp offer this year? Plenty of time for evaluations, and I'm sure we end up with 1 guy that we wouldn't have seen coming.

Daboll is pushing pretty hard for Asa Martin from Decatur. Martin had been shying away from us, saying his style of play didn't fit in at BAMA, that his style was suitable for more of the spread type offense. BAMA and Daboll have changed his mind here lately.
I don't see Pierce returning to the fold to be honest. He sees a crowded roster even with the possible early departures of Bo and D Harris. UGA seems to be his #1 school now with Chubb and Michel set to leave and little to no depth behind them.

I dont blame any RB in this class for shying away from Bama. There's wanting to compete, and then theres signing up to sit behind 10 five stars at Bama. You'd literally be signing up to run scout team for two years minimum at Bama right now.

Xavier Williams expected to sign elsewhere as well. lol

I would say Kirby is holding a Royal Flush in this card game. This from his bio: Note HS.

Playing Experience: University of Georgia -- Four-year letterman at defensive back (1995-98)...1998 All-SEC first team...finance major and 1998 second team Academic All-America...13 career interceptions....Bainbridge (Ga.) High School -- Three sport letterman (football, baseball, basketball)...Class AAAA All-State as senior...16 career interceptions.

Of all the positions, LB and RB it would seem are really the least urgent. If there is someone out there that we think is special, I'm sure we'll put the full court press on them, but if not, we're still good to go.

Wide Receiver, DL, DB and one QB this class. No need for anything else unless it just falls in our laps. I am the biggest Bama fan I know and if my son was a running back recruit being looked at by Bama I would send him looking elsewhere. Just too stacked until a few of these guys go pro. Same at linebacker we have great depth of great talent.

The defense has great players but we are lacking experinced depth right now and the ones who are will be going pro at years end. Great chance to get early playing time there. Everyone in the secondary will be gone after this year and at least three or 4 of our receivers will be gone after this year.

We need about:
6-8 true DL or Jack linebacker recruits
6 db or safety prospects
5 wide reciever prospects
1 QB pocket passer
1 random stud athlete
This would fill in the gaps nicely

We just saw Bama sign four running backs in one class and within a couple of years they were down to one. An injury there and history wouldn't look the same.

I expect to see this class go heavy on DL and DB, where we could possibly see 6-7 leave after the fall; draft, graduation, give up football.
We all know that CNS and staff will always try to take a QB in every class. With a sophomore and 2 true freshmen, someone will likely leave before it is all said and done. RB- while not a position of serious need, could become one if the injury bug strikes. We have 2 juniors and then the rest are 2 sophomores and 2 freshmen. Bo and Damien could opt for the draft. We all know that the life of an RB in the NFL isn't very long, so they may opt to test the waters if they have a strong year. WR is a position of need with as many as 4 seeing this fall as their final season.
I think a fair assessment of who we sign would look like this;
1 QB
1-2 RBs
3-4 WRs
5-6 DBs
6-7 DL
1 Stud punter
2 ILB/ OLB
