Butt hurt Pearl. Would be great to see Oats come out and ask where is he coaching now? Oh yeah I ran him out of the league. Oats is not one to not make some comment about it.

In some ways, Pearl was right. It's just hollow coming from his lips. But I doubt Oats cares much for the NCAA or the SEC office right now. Now was it selfish? I don't see that. If anything, it was maybe selfless... by taking arrows for Bediako and also forcing the hand of the courts to actually set a boundary. Many more boundaries are needed, but maybe that one will help get them built. Kills me though how some of these idiots act like having Bediako back was like having Nikola Jovic wearing Crimson all of a sudden.

Pearl saying something about anyone else with his track record is a joke which I am sure you are agreeing with. Now with regards to the entire Bedioko situation, I was never a fan of it but the NCAA is an inconsistent, hypocritical bunch.

Oats and Byrne are pissed off at Sankey; very disappointed in the least. Both men feel they were mislead by the SEC commish when they talked to him at the beginning. The beginning. Before any of this hit the wires.

The stance Sankey insinuated he would take in support of Chuck and his case? Yeah. That didn't happen. For lack of a better way to put this, "it was a hand shake offer of support that should have been in writing" because he (GS) didn't live up to his word.

At first I thought it was a bit of a wild rumor: I took it skeptically. It's since been verified by TI among a few others.

(I don't feel like he's entered "Kramerville" yet. He's in the county limits.)

Two days ago when I posted the thought pasted below it was along the same lines as what I've pasted from "College Football Nerds" via X.

Maybe I've had it wrong. I also thought the suit had been filed, then the TI was applied for and granted. The injunction has been ruled upon, no. But the suit remains.

You guys realize this isn't over, right? It seems a lot think it is; here and nationally.

"A legal issue that many media are misreporting:Bediako was not ruled ineligible for play this year by the court.Rather, the judge refused to force the NCAA to let him play via a preliminary injunction while the case is decided. No decision on the merits was reached yet.

Preliminary injunctions are based on a lot of factors, and while the judge found Bediako was unlikely to win as part of that, as per standard procedure there was no ruling on the merits, and the trial will continue until it reaches a full verdict unless the parties settle.

So, the NCAA must defend its decision (likely by enforcing the semi-pro rules more strictly going forward) or Bediako could win the suit. If he wins, Bediako would be entitled to compensation for any damaged caused by being unable to play (which could be a significant sum).

To get into the legal weeds a bit, one of the major issues was actually not the merits of the case, but rather whether Bediako could be adequately compensated by monetary damages if an injunction was denied.

Courts generally won't impose an injunction if any harm can later be "made whole" by imposing damages on the other party. The reason being, the court would rather not impose a remedy without having the chance to rule on the merits of who was right (injunctions are pre-ruling).

An example: someone wrongly repossesses your car. You sue over it. While you may want an injunction for the car, the court may deny that on the grounds that they would rather decide on the merits first, and the loss of the vehicle can be rectified at that time by giving you the value of the car with interest at time of judgment."

The version I heard is very similar. They ran the Bediako idea/plan up the SEC flag pole and Sankey gave them the green light, basically saying that he wouldn’t stand in the way. Supposedly, several other SEC schools then got involved after the legal fuse was lit and bitched about it and Sankey ultimately decided to back the NCAA and hang UA and their admin out to dry.

Easy to tell Oats was peeved at him with his comments on it earlier this week. And I’d love to be a fly on the wall during the meetings in Destin this summer. I can guarantee Oats will go toe to toe with anyone in that room, without filter, over the hypocrisy of it all.

My kind of guy. We deal with this with youth sports and school athletics politics. Folks absolutely expect you to sit back and take it, but boy, when you fire back with legitimate and substantiated proof, they fall in line really quick and tuck their tails and sit down. Too many folks think they can railroad you and you are forced to take it that they usually run across very little adversity or resistance. Sankey is gonna get whopped by Oates and hopefully Byrne in these meetings.

So Carson Beck is not enrolled in classes at Miami and yet he’s playing football?
Been to class and enrolled in classes ... two different things with Carson, wasn't it? He has taken some post-grad classes while at Miami is what was reported. As I recall there was some "journalistic freedom" excercised when they reported and were "selective" in what they quoted.

I wonder if he is finally ruled ineligible, will Bama have to forfeit the games that he was in?

He's ineligible now. But no. The original judge ruled Alabama could not be punished for playing him until a final ruling was made. The NCAA would be violating the order if they punished Bama, which would turn what was a very minor issue for them into a much, much bigger one.
