I've seen it. Do you believe the wealthy are necessarily intelligent and the poor are necessarily stupid? Because I've seen plenty of counter-examples of both. Your wealthy of poor and mediocre intelligence will seem more sophisticated due to having access to better education and cultural travel. I've seen so many dumbasses that come off to the average person as smart simply because they got Cs at a decent school and traveled to Europe. They still couldn't figure their way out of a paper bag.

Not "necessarily," but you can't deny the class someone is born into is somewhat correlated to how productive they'll be as an adult.

It has a lot to do with education and what classes value and have the means to further that education.

Your normal uneducated redneck or thug family is probably not going to start educating their child as it develops because the parents themselves don't value education.

I believe that this is the disadvantage most black people in the south have. It takes generations of change to make a significant impact on how productive they are.

Generally speaking of course.

To some extent, sure. But that's kind of one of the problems of a strongly class-based society. It doesn't mean the children are any less worthwhile or intelligent, it just means society needs to do more to give them opportunities, whatever that might be.

Agreed, and it's not even so much whether they value education, but how much they're able to share it with their children. It's a little better now due to the internet, but let's say when we were growing up and before.

Even if a family values education, they may not have had any to further their children's. Example: You barely have a high school education, your wife is a HS dropout. You want education for your children, but when your inquisitive child starts asking questions, you don't even know where to begin answering or even how to promote asking critical questions. You don't have the $3-5k for a computer or even a set of encyclopedias. That's a severe disadvantage compared to a kid who has parents with graduate degrees, access to the internet, books, travel, etc.

That may be changing now that information is much more easily accessible and much cheaper, but it's only been that way for a short period of time.

Bullshit. It's comes down to a choice that individual made. If we're speaking of average intelligence across the board, then at some point that person made the decision to "barely have a high school education" or drop out.
There are rare cases, but most of these bums and homeless and this trash that lives on welfare and govt assistance.... at some point, they made a decision that put themselves in that position.
My parents were dirt poor growing up, we didn't have money for a fancy computer or anything, I went to public schools, because private school wasn't an option. I could have dropped out, or barely gotten an education, but I didn't. I made the best of what I had. It was a decision.
So fuck a buncha socialists that want to take what I've worked my ass off for, and give it to somebody that has decided to be lazy.
Enablers is what this country has become. It's OK if you want to sit on your sorry ass and do nothing, we'll provide for you.
The problem is, there's no incentive for people to make something of themselves, or improve their children's situation, because they know another govt assistance program is right around the corner.
Having just a little bit of self pride, and the ability to make sound decisions is what determines a person's livelihood.

To add on to what Biff said, that is one of the reasons raising the minimum wage is a fucked up idea.

Minimum wage jobs aren't meant to sustain life for a family of 4. They are meant for high school kids and temp positions. If you are 37 years old and working a minimum wage job as a permanent place of employment, that's on you. You don't deserve a higher wage just because you aren't able provide a quality life for your family.
