🏈 🔎 PRE-GAME discussion~ Wisconsin: Horton, Dewberry, and Brown interviews from Tuesday

Interesting to me how quickly the rat poison returns with one victory over ULM. It is for sure a step in the right direction and 73- 0 is great but it is one .
If the final score was identical to the LSU game this past week, nary a soul would be saying things like this.

Well over 90 percent of the teams in football wouldn't have recorded that score against ULM.

We're going to be seeing a familiar name this weekend as well; Jeff Grimes took over the OC job from Phil Longo this season. He was an offensive line coach at Auburn and later at LSU. He's been 'cutting his teeth' in the Big 12 as OC.
Yesterday I read a few previews of this Wisconsin team from their own beat writers and the writers for the two teams they faced this season. The general consensus has been the bright spot on their defense has been their back seven in pass defense. A good point going into this weekend. So, I decided to look at their staff a little more in depth and ...

...there's another one I didn't realize we knew until a little while ago. Do you remember how? When?

Terry, I had to doublecheck my memory. Smitty got him in the championship game.

Based on what I'm seeing from the players and coaches yesterday during the conference call, I think they will be fine. I'm not worried about their mindset at all.

Ty Simpson requested the coaches to be even harder on him going forward. Bernard and Keenan is fighting hard to make sure the team is staying focused going forward. I think we'll be fine.

Ty Simpson struggled mightily when Alabama football lost its Week 1 game at Florida State. He made poor decisions, and took far too long to do so.

The redshirt junior understood after that game that his performance wasn’t good enough, even going so far as to apologize to the Crimson Tide’s leadership group. Then, Saturday against ULM, he looked much better, going 17-for-17 passing, throwing for three touchdowns and running for another, all in the first half of the 73-0 blowout.

On Monday, offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb was asked where he saw the most improvement from Simpson, game-to-game.

“Decision making,” Grubb said. “I thought he was extremely decisive. He was very dialed on his reads. He didn’t pass up open players. I thought he played great. I thought he was really, really into the game plan all week and I was really hopeful that he was gonna play very, very well.”

The Alabama staff decided before the game to let Austin Mack take a first-half series. Kalen DeBoer noted Monday that he feels competition brings out the best in every player, including Simpson.

The coaches were impressed with how the Tennessee native dealt with the move.

“Just attacked it, kind of dug in, focused more on himself,” Grubb said of Simpson. “The toughest part about playing quarterback is not letting outside influences, whether it’s another quarterback, someone from outside the program, affect the way you prepare. I thought Ty was elite at that this week. He just dove into the preparation and did a great job.”

After the ULM blowout, Alabama is back to Power 4 competition this week. The Crimson Tide faces Wisconsin Saturday, at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Simpson told reporters after beating up on the Warhawks that he had asked coaches to be harder on him moving forward. Grubb said that was the plan on Monday.

“That’s not surprising,” Grubb said. “That’s something that Ty certainly shared with me as well. That was something I told him after the first game was, I told you everybody on the team’s got to look inward, what we can own. I thought maybe I wasn’t hard enough on Ty. I didn’t harden him enough for the moment in the first week and I told him I wouldn’t make that mistake again.”

Alabama and Wisconsin are scheduled to kick off at 11 a.m. CT Saturday in Tuscaloosa. The game will be aired on ABC.

I don't think it was weird. I think it was right response. He pretty took it personal and vowed to never do that again.
Ill be honest with all of you. I'm pretty fucking done with all these guys talking, and promising shit all the time. We've heard this before from other players last season, and before this season. I'm not gonna believe it until they show me on the field.

Fuel to what fire? Lack of fire was the problem. Agree with  some of this, but they are being asked the question so I guess they have to answer.
