🏈 🔎 PRE-GAME discussion~ Wisconsin: Horton, Dewberry, and Brown interviews from Tuesday

I think RW is an elite player just like we all think he is ... Give the kid some time to adjust to a new position/role. Everyone expects immediate results which is not typically going to happen, Also some context here, do you think RW would have looked much better against ULM with a much better protected QB which resulted in a much more comfortable and confident Simpson? Of course he would have...
That won’t help him catch the ball

Was thinking similarly…was the reason we looked so good on offense because “glamor” boy was not dressed?

To piggyback off this just a little...T. Simpson shared the ball with a variety of receivers last Saturday. Last year it seemed we targeted Williams too much. I like spreading the wealth but I especially liked using the TE. TE is the most forgotten player on the field at a skilled position. Coach Smith used the TE a lot during the late 80's and his offense. I think @UAgrad93 will agree with the use of the TE?

TE is a glorified lineman! At least that was what my HS coach told me! 😂
Now Coach Smith used the TE a lot and we had a good one in Lamonde Russell. He was a mismatch back in ‘89, ‘90 not so much under Coach Moore. Injuries to the WR corps didn’t help. I think Lamonde was our 2nd leading receiver in ‘89, behind FB Kevin Turner if I’m not mistaken. Coach Smith preached the checkdowns a lot like Coach Stallings did with ending every possession with some type of kick.

I do know his history which is why he has been on the bench At this point If he is still that fragile probably not going to be the guy to go on the road in these tough environments and be someone you can count on.
Now you've lost me. He's asking for more intense practices and instruction and you're postering he's still that fragile?

You know he didn't get the starting role last year for a number of reasons. One of which is how he got upset with himself after a bad play: it's something we've known since he arrived. It's also something we've been discussing pointing to his progress.

Teaching someone to "forget the last play" isn't easy and it certainly isn't done with adding intensity in coaching.

A case of perceptions versus reality. Germy was targeted more and had a couple of more receptions. Ryan was the target of attention, no doubt: the athleticism shrouded by "he's only 17."
I should have been clearer. He was the target of defensive backs and was thrown to in coverage more by the QB, not necessarily thrown to more.
