Another random thought:

Two different defensive approaches with Vandy and UGA. I haven't seen anything that gives me the impression that with Vandy there will be as much of the role he filled blocking against UGA.

"Starter" is a fluid term. Do we see Riley in the first series?

It sounds like we're running 4-3 scheme nickel and dime against Vandy.
If I had to guess it'll be like this:

Overton, Keenan, Smith/Hill and Lawson (OLB)

Then we'll see :
WLB : Hill-Green
MLB : Jefferson

Rest of secondary are the same.

Easy switch to 3-3-5 by moving Lawson off the ground.. there's lot of versatile and we have the players to do that.

Just spitballing here, but I wonder if we see like a Strongside DE versus weakside with Lawson being the Weakside/drop end like the old 5/2 defense from days of old.

There are a few folks on here that keep doubling down on the D by trying to put lipstick on a pig. At the end of the day rush defense has not been what it needs to be. No reason to act like that is not the case. It needs to improve period.

Sir, nobody in this forum is doing exactly like that. Nobody is trying to ignore the fact that the rush defense hasn't exactly been what it was. You just need to look at the whole picture. The defense is continuing to get better each week. Rushing defense wasn't great until 4th quarter last week. Passing Defense was good.

Where? Who? I haven't seen anyone, anywhere, say there aren't issues with run defense.

What I don't understand is why some of the fans acting like this for no reason. If Alabama beats Vandy tomorrow, then we're going to have same fans saying same thing about SC. It's trauma speaking.

I would take a little caution over the extreme optimism you have been exuding. We should absolutely tear them a new one. But I still want to see us shut down a guy like Castellanos and Pavia. Let me see that Georgia game again and I'll be overly optimistic, but until then I'm wanting to see a consistent defensive effort and another game with less flags. Not saying we lose this game, just saying it's not the cake walk some are trying to talk into existence.

I'm confident because I'm not the one coaching the team. I'm not the one on the field. All I care about is them putting extra efforts on the field and fight hard. As long they do that, I will always be confident.

Well of course, if we expect that, we can all be confident. Our struggles have been well documented when it comes to discipline and our defensive struggles. I do not think for one second this game won't be a challenge for atleast a half. I am confident in our offense as I know what they can do. The defense played extremely well to me against Georgia, but can we maintain that against a guy like Pavia that is an overall better quarterback than Gunnar Stockton? He's proven he can beat us, so I am optimistic, but not looking ahead to next week either as a sign of optimism. Even with the numbers, we have something to prove and some retribution to give.
