| FOOD Favorite Place To Go For Breakfast

I have to have my egg fried solid on a sammich.
Did you look at that menu?

I had my tablet with me. Looked over the menu pictures while I was there comparing what people were eating to the pictures. It was real.

I'm going back, soon. You mentioned the Wendy's launch.

How this sound?

Cheddar jalapeño biscuit, crispy fried chicken, maple sausage gravy, cowboy candy, maple syrup drizzle

No, didn't look at the menu.

Not Wendy's, it was Chick-fil-A.

Here's where I separate breakfast and brunch. With brunch, I'm drinking.

MAN! Damn you! You just reminded me of a quiche and now I have to buy pie crust. I can't think of the name of the place. They had a special on Sunday's with Mimosa's and quiche. Like a vat of wine drink...back then, I think it was about $15.

Gotta order pie crust from Walmart. I wonder how they'll deliver this when I ask for shipping?
I rarely eat breakfast, I’m more of a brunch guy because of the mimosa thing.

At the place I mentioned you can get a pitcher of mimosas for $15, food is a bit pricey, last time my girlfriend and I were there I think for the two of us to eat and mimosas it cost us $95 and some change.

Do you have a favorite quiche?

Bojangles have a pretty good survival rate, that's tough.

Off topic, but Culvers are rolling into the south like a boss, leaving Hardees and Burger Kings in their wake.

We had 3 in the area, now down to 1 (over in five points near Cottondale). Hopefully it stays afloat... I've been seeing Culvers pop up a lot. Whataburger too in some areas. And I guess In-N-Out will start their march into the south soon out of Nashville.

Bojangles is NC based, strong in many places, I think they're fine. I don't know the financial/managerial story on Culvers, but they have good quality, Steak N Shake style food and they are killing it. The new one at the primary Anniston/Oxford exit is open after they knocked down some crappy motels/restaurants. It's overrun every time I go by.

Whataburger is a different animal. Cult following, never moved east to Atlanta until private equity rolled in. My Texas buddies are acolytes, and they swear the quality is declining. Probably a pump and dump underway there.

On a smaller scale, but more hurtful to my heart, is the travesty of the decline in the quality in Milo's as they have expanded. I cannot eat at the one in Pell City.

We have a Culvers in the Cloverdale area of Florence. It's been there a while, gotta say, it's pretty good. Also a Whataburger just opened a couple of months ago on Florence Blvd (first one in the area). Our Bojangles is still kickin' pretty good.

First time I ever had Whataburger was after I moved to Daphne in '90, they had one out in west Mobile. Always liked it. I would always stop at the one in Chelsea on 280 when I went down to Lake Martin... I must have been the only one though, it was never busy and ended up closing. They opened 3 in Tuscaloosa, and I hardly go, but I do like them.

The Milo's quality has definitely taken a huge hit over the years. They were going to open one in Northport near County High a few years back, but then Covid hit and I'm pretty sure that killed it. I'll eat at the one off Skyland/69 S about twice a year, when I really get a craving for it. If I had one closer, I'd eat there more. But their menu prices are on the Five Guys express lane. And perhaps it's just me, but I swear the Milo's sauce tastes different than it used to also.

They moved the 280 Whataburger from Chelsea over the mountain near the Pet Motel.

Milo's changed their sauce, and radically downgraded their beef.
