| FOOD Favorite Place To Go For Breakfast

@PurlJam blame the black runtz.

Now that I've been thinking about this Heflin gave her some type of reward ... it was Hurricane Fredrick, late '70's.

I'll commend their effort on shrimp and grits...but the grits are better here.
Black Runtz in the preferred bacon cooked thread would be "All of the above". ;)
If I ever make it to South Carolina, the shrimp and grits will definitely be the choice on my part.

Back in the day there was a place called Uncle Mort's. It was about halfway between Jasper and Dora Alabama on U.S. Highway 78... It was the best. Today mine is probably Staggs Grocery in Florence. When I go in to grab a biscuit from time to time, I come out smelling like breakfast the rest of the day. 🤤

Knew the owner Billy Staggs, a fine gentleman who has now passed. His son Lynn took it over and I believe my dad said he sold it in the last year or two.

They passed it on (sold) to their longtime employee (Donna Hill). She runs the cash register. :)
I couldn’t remember the name of the person Lynn sold it to. The new road goes through my grandparents house at the intersection of Huntsville Rd and Helton, going toward Florence Blvd. I grew up on Cherry Hill just past that to the right, it took out our house as well.

I know exactly where you are talking about with Cherry Hill. I miss the Shoals area. Going to a BMX show in Moody May 20, so my son and I are going to stay in the Shoals Marriott May 19. Excited to visit again!

There may be one in Foley too, I dont know. The one we go to is at the intersection of 59 & Fort Morgan rd. in Gulf Shores. Across from Burger King and Rouse's.
I know it's a small world when I know exactly what your talking about lol.

My dad's family owns a beach house off Fort Morgan highway near the Beach Club. I've eaten at that Burger King as a kid in the early 2000s, in 2005 when it had a tarped roof from Hurricane Danny, and now presently as an adult.

That building where Rouses is at has been through multiple tenants through the decades.

I like the Waysider, but rarely go for whatever reason. Probably because I don't like to wait to eat, especially for breakfast, and I've had to wait there more pretty often. Buddy's Rib and Steak has a good breakfast. City Cafe is ok, but people are packed in there like sardines... I don't care for that. Rama Jama's has a pretty good breakfast too, but I hardly ever go there either.

One of my favorite spots out of town is The Loveless Cafe in Nashville.

I'm happy though with a biscuit from Bojangles.

Sad to report that Buddy's will close on June 13th. 50 years in business. It sucks to see these places die...

Oh wow, just guessing here but probably around 10 years ago. They grilled their steaks with hickory.

Ok, just wondering. I think you've mentioned them before. I don't live far from there, but if its been 10 years then it was closed when I moved to Northport, so I don't feel too bad now that I missed out on it. I don't drive up that way often... maybe once every 2 years or so, but I think(?) I've seen the building over off the road.

You definitely would have known it if it was still open...the smell would have drug you in like a bug to the blue light. :p

OKAY. I found a new one today. I'd heard of it, just never stopped in. @It Takes Eleven you gotta put this on your "stop list."

I had shrimp and grits this morning ... open faced biscuit, blackened shrimp, a "Low country gravy," .... the grits were white cheddar, stone ground....topped with some chives and ground black pepper (my choice there.)

Look at that menu!!!!!

It's on the menu here....first picture I found. I saw a few eating this.

You should see the size of their waffles.

Have you ever seen something that made your arms just go weak for a minute? That's me...looking around at tables and seeing what people were eating.

I’m not sure how I missed this thread when it was in its adolescence.

Triple G’s (formerly Triple T’s) in Pell City on 78 headed toward Riverside is epic When I have buddies in town and we head to CMP to shoot, we always stop there. Tons of meats - pork chops, various sausages and bologna - really good gravy. It’s all a la carte, and if you finish what you order and your bill is over $8.50, you are done for the day.

Bluebell Country Store and Cafe, Story, Arkansas. I was hiking the Ouachita Trail and this was a stopover. They have an item, “Piled High”. Two eggs, home fries, two sausage, two bacon, two biscuits, all covered in sausage gravy. I ate that the day we started our hike and left our car there, again at the midpoint of a hundred mile hike, and I still lost ten pounds.

My favorite place is in Fort Collins, Colorado called Ginger and Baker, they make the best mimosas I’ve ever had and their food is immaculate.
Here's where I separate breakfast and brunch. With brunch, I'm drinking.

MAN! Damn you! You just reminded me of a quiche and now I have to buy pie crust. I can't think of the name of the place. They had a special on Sunday's with Mimosa's and quiche. Like a vat of wine drink...back then, I think it was about $15.

Gotta order pie crust from Walmart. I wonder how they'll deliver this when I ask for shipping?
