Wanted to play both ways if possible but I believe originally we sold him on DB since our safety situation at the time was good and we needed DBs this year. We also didn't know 100% what we were getting in Zabien Brown until he showed out...now we got more than we can handle and Safety might be light this year so he should get playing time in one of the spots we have opening up from Devonta Smith's departure or Saab and Moore departures.

Similarly he'd be a good fit for offense to take over Law's spot IMO he's physical at the point of attack and is very unselfish in blocking scenarios. He's also got some shimmy and shake to him. Hope we use him correctly, time will tell.
I would love to see him in 3rd down situations time to time. I can't wait to see how he pans out. If he does well on both side, whew.. the future is bright for him either way.

It wouldn't take but 2-3 practice sessions with #9 playing receiver to tell if he is magical. Placing someone into a slot you need filled isn't always the best plan for the player.

UA isn't going to offer more than Ole Miss initially offered. But this boils down to what I've said numerous times... you try to keep the ones you really want to keep. That's what is going on.
I do a lot of hiring in my world which also means folks also leave. I keep who I want and might stretch retention fees but sometimes the people offering are being reckless and you wish the employee well and move on. You do not create internal or market inequity any more than what makes sense. There are some speciallist that bring more value and you account for that in the market assessment. It is a business, I just hate that is what College Football has become.

I don't care for it either. I'm not sure anyone likes it really, other than those small few benefiting from it.

Make no mistake, keeping Mbakwe was a win for this staff. On and off the field. "You keep the ones you want to keep..." They did that, and also kept Kiffin and Ole Miss from getting a win. The Rebs can celebrate Haynes if they land him, but Bama ain't sweating that one. This staff didn't want to lose Mbakwe though.
I agree IF they did not break the bank to do it...

What 19-year-old would turn down a million bucks? He will be at Nick's MB dealership by Saturday and the Jewelry store as well.
It's not really a million bucks to move to Ole Miss.. He had some sort of NIL at Bama too... Not sure the going rate, but he left for the "spread" between whatever Bama was paying and what Ole Miss is paying. He did note it was a business decision in his farewell note. I'm not sure how I feel about it yet... my initial reaction is to lose respect for anyone acting this way...but I really don't know how I would react so I may be a bit of a hypocrite in doing so.
