🏈 Disappointed in Dooley's actions today

I know he was upset. After the game he was essentially trying to blame the refs saying that they should've been standing over the ball and allowed him to substitute. I argue that he did in fact have time to substitute--that's how you had thirteen men on the field, Coach.

After LSU scored their final TD Dooley throws his headset down and walks off the field. Les Miles had to run him down to shake his hand.

I don't care whether you're angry at the refs or not, show some class and shake hands at the end of the game instead of running off the field.

i dont blame him that much, obviously he was pissed, and at that point its easier to deflect blame on the refs than throw the team under the bus

when he does see tape of what happened, well, lets just say practice at ut will become the 7th layer of hell...
for coaches as well

Living in Nashville, I hear a lot of chatter about Dooley and let's just say that Orange Nation is less than impressed with their coach. There's been a general sense of skepticism since his arrival. Sports radio ought to be a fun listen this week around here.

He's literally their Mike Shula. The only difference is they don't have to deal with probation.

I haven't heard much about Dooley, but I can kind of understand his frustration. He does coach Tennessee and looking at that color orange would drive anyone a little batty. I digress...
That would have been frustrating and extremely embarrassing for him. He probably wasn't even thinking straight at the time. If he really is a stand up guy, he'll apologize tomorrow. I guess we'll see. I just know I've done and said plenty of things in anger and frustration that I wished I could take back...especially when I was embarrassed on top of it all. It takes a lot to really upset me, but I've been told I'm really scary when provoked.

Mike Shula never acted like the baby Dooley did today. I don't remember Shula ever throwing his head set down like that at the end of a game or trying to walk off the field without shaking hands. Never. This kid is a complete moron and Tenn. deserves him!

Interestingly enough, I actually became a bigger fan of Dooley yesterday. It's the first time, in many years, that I actually look forward to the game.

Yes, I understand where you are coming from...but, at the same time, UT has a good one if they give him time.

As much as I hate Tennessee as well, I find it hard to fault Dooley. That's probably one of the most emotional, disappointing ways you could EVER lose a game. It's easy to sit back and say you would have acted differently, but I for one will tell you I'd probably just as upset, frustrated, and vocal. Also, with that said...Dooley has more class in one finger than Kiffin has in his entire body.

Mike Shula was always too scared to show any kind of anger towards anyone.

With that ending it would be understandable to see your coach (or Dooley in this case) throw his headset.

Mike Shula would have just stood around looking like he was about to cry.

I agree that Dooley seems to be a class act. He really wanted that game and was so close. I can't imagine the emotional trauma of going from 'won the game' to 'lost the game' in a matter of seconds. I don't think any less of him. He's human.

BTW, I'm really disappointed to see our own fans using this as an opportunity to blast one of our own. Shula may not be the coach that Saban is, but who is? We shouldn't forget that he is one of our own. He did great things for us as a player and as a coach he gave our program stability at a critical time in our program's history - not to mention, a win over Florida by a wider margin than the one yesterday.

I agree 100%. Shula did his best with what he had. He's no Saban of course...but as you said who is? I'll always be grateful for Shula keeping the ship afloat during some of the programs darkest times.

If it was just throwing the headset I would be ok. But then he tries to storm off without shaking Les' hand. That was unacceptable in a head coach for me.

When I was watching the game live - after it looked like UT had won - I was curious to see Miles reaction at midfield. I believe I saw Dooley looking for Miles but Miles seemed to be conveniently distracted and (I thought) it looked like he was headed straight to the locker room. THEN the flag came out and when LSU won Miles was all smiles and handshakes. I thought THAT was what kind of ticked off Dooley. At least that's the way I perceived it at the time.

To be sure, I'd need to see a full replay of the entire aftermath of the game - not just the clips they've been showing on ESPN.

Did anyone else watching the game live have that same perception? Or, am I starting to hallucinate in my old age?

Not you Duder because you don't have the history we Bama fans do with UT...

I do have to ask...

How many of you actually found yourself rooting for UT this weekend? I didn't get that far...but, it's the first time in years I wasn't specifically rooting against them.

Is it because of my respect for Dooley? Is it more a dislike developed over the last few years for Les?

I have no dislike for Dooley, and I dislike Les intensely. I found myself in the unaccustomed position of pulling for the viles at the end of the game. The last time I remember cheering for them was in a bowl game versus Miami.
