šŸˆ DeBoer's future at Alabama and the most likely path ahead (from my perspective)...

So, Nick quit because he had a roster full of turds that he recruited. Bryne then contracts Nick to stick around and try to keep other turds from leaving. Nick will not tell the truth of why he turned in the keys because he is still trying to keep the roster full.

Am I missing something. We're putting bondo on the rust.
Blame the shutdown back in ā€˜20. @alabama mike can vouch with me on this. Those kids were set back 3-5 years in their development. Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok became their way of life and gave them the acceptance they desired. When Saban started replacing the roster with these younger ones, they didn’t understand adversity or pressure. All of the social media platforms always told them how great they were. Coming out of COVID, many administrators chose to cater to the fragile egos because of the ā€œtraumaā€ they had experienced. I was too far along in the game to change my way of thinking so I retired.

I’ve always known this fan base automatically goes to the world is ending and the sky is falling, but the shit I’ve seen since Saturday is on the verge of being idiotic. One game and we’re talking about firing a HC in his SECOND year. We could see what hurt us last year and against FSU in Saban’s last two years, yes we only lost two games both those years, but you could see it. I said the other day and still believe we’re in need of a culture change, winning can breed arrogance and when you’re winning as much we have sometimes you may not work as hard then add in NIL and culture changes don’t happen quick. I also think one thing people are forgetting is yes DeBoer is coming into a much better situation name brand wise, facilities, etc, but over 30 players transferred prior to him coaching one day, that isn’t easy. Replacing the greatest head coach of all time isn’t easy and it takes time, different sport, but look at UNC basketball, Roy Williams retired and they’re still trying to find their footing. I don’t buy into the silly ā€œhe was a PAC 12 coach not SECā€ narrative, a good coach is a good coach and he wouldn’t have been hired if he wasn’t a damn good coach, I don’t care where the coach is from.

Let’s go with the ā€œget rid of DeBoerā€ thing- who the hell do people think we’re going to hire that is going to magically turn this around with no players? Because like with Saban we fire CKD players are going to transfer, so you add the over 30 that left after Saban retired then add the ones that’ll leave after CKD and you think it’s rough now we’ll be back in the real hard times.

I think you calling people idiotic is comical and then you bring up needing a culture change. What the hell has been happening the last year and a half? Transfers? No one of real note left and all we hesrd was how this staff really kept it all together.

He's right. Some of the reactions have been idiotic.

The more Saban is brought into the conversations, the worse it's going to get. But that is inevitable...just like idiotic reactions from Bama fans.
I'll say this, some of the names I've heard fans throwing out there have made me throw up into my mouth. Also hearing/reading fans throw out their ideas of what Bama should do schematically defensively is humourous, and a reminder that a lot of people don't know what they're talking about when discussing X's & O's.

I'll be sitting there genuinely baffled by what I just saw.

Why are we even talking about a coach change? That's just insane and way too soon. If this year is terrible he should change the coordinators and hit the portal hard. Worked for FSU it appears.

I had a cousin of mine ask if DeBoer could survive this year and did I think we should go get Gruden before someone else does. I told him to pump the brakes! Explained the insane amount of money it would take and that it was a knee jerk reaction. I used a lot of the points that Brandon used, money, endowment, operating at a loss last year and that a wiser move like letting it play out to December then look at some staff changes and more NIL thrown at some DL kids.

fans used to habitually wait until the fourth game (Arkansas seemed the annual team then) before making a decision on a team.
Sounds like we are finally agreeing. Wait and see it play out on the field. Been saying that for two seasons now. Gotta get people to stop reading the headlines and painting rosie pictures w/o even playing a game. Been that way in the off season for the last 2 years by many on this board. It has been mind numbing...

It didn't last year. Out of the five teams who did just that last season only one had success, Arizona State. (Colorado had 13 or 14 more new guys. AZ St. ranked third.)
This season if we looked at the top ten in portal additions for this season none of them are ranked. (FSU was 12th, IU is #11.)

Ole Miss at #17 has the best shot at the playoffs in my view.

Well, @Scrape&Search1032 was a little "off", but outside of his daily nut for Schumann, everything was relatively warranted. "Overreactions" when you come out like that are valid. Violence and personal stuff are unacceptable, but saying it hiw it was is fine.

Well.......to try and divert this thread a totally different direction.

DeBoer isn't going anywhere. With what Brandon started this thread with........let us look at real possibilities. Who would be on your wish list for DC, OL, DL coaches?
Schwartz, Stoutland, and Davis. Ain't happening but you asked for a wish list. Bring Pruitt in as an analyst while we're at it.

I'm just giving y'all a fair warning. If Schumann were to ever get this job, the day that it is announced.... you will never see anyone on here act the way I will.

Also, if that were to happen. I'm going to do everything in my power to get on that staff. Idgaf what I have to do. I'll be the guy that gets his ass kicked on the pads during drills, waterboy, anything....

Let’s reread, I didn’t call anybody idiotic, I said some of the reactions have been idiotic and I’m not wrong. Yes, nobody worth a damn left, you’re right, all those pesky, shitty one stars šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø. This staff kept a lot of it together, hell man we could’ve lost far more than the 39 from when Saban retired then after last year we lost some good players and to say otherwise is being dishonest.

Reactions being idiotic is the same as calling someone idiotic. As I said, we could have lost a lot more, no doubt. We didn't lose any production. So how long does a culture change take? How was that not one of the first things you instill in your team after relationships?
