Agreed. But Iāve been arguing it should have happened, and moving forward in this era, it ought to happen more at the QB position than it ever has since the days of unlimited roster size.
Oregon's Dante Moore is also expected to stick around or another season thanks to a massive NIL deal with the Ducks. A simple decision like that, could possibly trigger Simpson to make the jump as his value would only increase.
Wanted to update this since things have changed... Dante Moore had a huge check waiting on him (still does if he wants it) from Oregon to return... way, way over market value. It is now believed that Moore will indeed jump to the draft though based on feedback he's received from NFL personnel.
Also, while I think maybe it's already been announced, South Carolina QB LaNoris Sellers is returning to the Gamecocks. That in itself isn't big news, but the promises made to him are surprising to some. It was agreed that Carolina would bring in both staff and players to support Sellers and try to get him to reach his potential. Kendall Briles has already been brought in to replace Mike Shula as OC and QB coach. Supposedly, Carolina will also shop hard in the portal and spend extra to bring in some WR's and OL as well, to give Sellers more to work with on the field. All that, plus a nice bump in pay.
