🧑‍🤝‍🧑 / 🏡 CV-19: Effects on life, work, and sports

Are the quotations marks journalistic freedom here? While he said "we don't know" this "It will go away like magic" deseres a (sic.) I see that as misconstruing things.

I continue to see "he did nothing" and then I look at the timeline and pause. WHO's declaration...on the 30th as I recall and travel shutdown was enacted by the 2nd of February.

As I also recall it was the 21st, maybe 22nd, when the CDC first reported the travel related case in the US. 10 day period where there was a lot of opposition to the travel ban. We still had people from John Hopkins saying it wouldn't help after it had been implemented.

I also recall there were only six other countries that had a ban in place before the US started ours.

Something I consider after each opinion voiced here; it's 20/20 highsight on something that's unknown. A more proactive measures should have been taken?

“It’s going to disappear. One day, it’s like a miracle, it will disappear."

Direct quote.

And yes, a lot of people said it wouldn't help because we already had cases here. That's kind of the point. That's why I said he did nothing. When we should have been preparing for what was about to hit we were allowing all of our PPE to be exported and did a meaningless ban on people coming from China and some from the UK. All the way the leader of the free world was telling us it was nothing. If you think that a person that people literally roll with lock step saying something isn't a big deal IDK what to say to you. It is a very big deal. There is a large section of this country that would literally go jump off of Trump Tower if he said to go do it. So, when he's going around and downplaying it and saying it's going to be gone soon and there is nothing to worry about, that's how people are going to take it. You don't need to look much further than the first few pages of this thread.

I didn't accuse you of assaulting your wife. I was, however, genuinely concerned for her well being because of your anger problem, not because of your views. I'm getting that way again.

The anger problem you invented in your head because you don't like what I have to say. You've never met me, never spoken to me outside of a message forum. Don't quit your day job because internet psychiatrist isn't gonna pay the bills.

It's a fact that this virus is not as bad as forecasted. You claim you speak in facts, but the fact is that this virus has not been as bad as you and a lot of other initially thought. A lot of lies and corruption at all levels on this mess. You're too emotional and angry for anyone to converse with. You talk down to people instead of talking to people. Anger? Yeah, others have seen it as well. Reminds me of a teenager that thinks it's everyone else and not them. You chide the older members of this thread, but you are showing nothing different than every other young chump out there that thinks they know at all. We're the same age, so spare me your bullshit about age and views on life. Just move forward and realize you don't have all the right answers nor do you know it all like you suggest on here. And once again, if you feel like you can do better, get off your ass and do something other than pecking at a keyboard bitching about the failures of those that are attempting to do something.

Virtually nothing you said is true, though. Not as many people are going to die as was forecasted. That is a good thing but that doesn't mean it's "not as bad as people said." I've actually spoken to health department officials and doctors, meanwhile you know more than them. More ad hominem and projection from you with the rest of this.

But wait... we're the same age? So, you're 33? Yet you're calling me a "young chump?" And I know I don't have all the answers but I try to find the answers. Meanwhile you pretend that you do and project that on me.

I've read and heard people having these self-introspective moments and one recently caught my attention.

He mentioned Reddit and how UNC, Harvard's guy, Wuhan, and stories about the WHO were really picking up and a lot of people dismissed stories as conspiracies, "where my tin foil hat" cliches.

We find out UNC identifies...Harvard prof in jail with a GA deported for feeding intel back to China...Wuhan's bio lab...

This has been twisted so badly that it's not even funny. False headline claim: Harvard Professor arrested for creating and selling the new coronavirus to China

When we should have been preparing for what was about to hit we were allowing all of our PPE to be exported and did a meaningless ban on people coming from China and some from the UK.
Preparing for something that no one really knew what it was? His travel ban is meaningless?

This leaves me shaking my head. One, not realistic, followed by another that's saying limiting contact doesn't prevent this being spread? His ban is meaningless from the country this virus originated? If the bans are so meaningless, why do we see them worldwide?

All the way the leader of the free world was telling us it was nothing. If you think that a person that people literally roll with lock step saying something isn't a big deal IDK what to say to you. It is a very big deal. There is a large section of this country that would literally go jump off of Trump Tower if he said to go do it. There it is again, "...telling us it was nothing" without mentioning he's said "we don't know." I know Trump said he had a hunch it wouldn't be as big of a deal as some models were predicting. I heard one cited yesterday with a death toll of 2.2 million. As it turns up it's not as big of a deal as the conservative estimates you quoted earlier in the thread.

This is why I perceived anger, hatred.

And, it's why I said ...

Individual perspectives can be funny things ...

Ha, there we go, nothing I said was true. You've spoken with health officials and doctors that have claimed what? You know, WHO officials have released a lot of false information and Pro-Chinese stance on this whole thing too. Does that mean they are right???

I'm 36, so we're pretty close. And yes, you project like a know it all millennial that knows more than every other generation. You find answers? What have you found exactly? You whine about the response and that's it. You sit there and trash any other information anyone brings up that you don't agree with. You haven't once said "yep, that's good information". I don't know everything and can admit that, and I ask questions. You've answered some questions I have had on here before. I don't project anything on you other than you being a dick to anyone that doesn't bow to your knowledge on everything. Societal problem #1, you don't know how to have a conversation, you get angry and upset too easily. There's no point in bringing another point of view to your table because you simply cannot open up to new information that doesn't sit what your stance. I'm bored now cause all this is doing is rinse and repeat.

The travel ban was meaningless when it happened because we already had cases. Too little, too late. Meaningless because little to nothing else was done.

You keep pointing to one "we dont know" comment when I have dozens of these...

"We have it totally under control. It’s one person coming in from China, and we have it under control. It’s going to be just fine.”

“I think it’s going to work out fine. I think when we get into April, in the warmer weather, that has a very negative effect on that and that type of a virus.”

"The Coronavirus is very much under control in the USA. We are in contact with everyone and all relevant countries. CDC & World Health have been working hard and very smart. Stock Market starting to look very good to me!"

“You may ask about the coronavirus, which is very well under control in our country. We have very few people with it, and the people that have it are – in all cases, I have not heard anything other.”

“The infection seems to have gone down over the last two days. We’re going to be pretty soon at only five people. And we could be at just one or two people over the next short period of time.”

“It’s going to disappear. One day it’s like a miracle, it will disappear.”

"So last year 37,000 Americans died from the common Flu. It averages between 27,000 and 70,000 per year. Nothing is shut down, life & the economy go on. At this moment there are 546 confirmed cases of CoronaVirus, with 22 deaths. Think about that! "

You keep parroting what Trump has been saying, "we didn't see it coming" "no one saw it coming" when that is just flat out untrue. There is no personal perspective. It's just not true.

CDC released it's first warning on Jan. 8 and Azar briefed Trump on Coronavirus the first time a week later. First confirmed U.S. case two days later. A few days after that one of Trump's top aides warned the White House how serious it would be. Ignored. Azar warns Trump again on Jan. 30 and warns him of a pandemic. Trump calls him an "alarmist." A few days later U.S. Intelligence filed a report on the possible global destabilization because of the pandemic. Early February, Democratic senators meet with administration officials and practically beg for them to buy more medical equipment and are ignored. Trump's economic adviser sends him a memo warning about the pandemic and how bad it could be in mid February. When it was later leaked Trump pretends like he never saw it - then again that could be possible as it would require him to read something.

Go even further back, Obama's team tries to brief the Trump team during the transition on the fear of a possible pandemic in the future and how they had been planning to try and fight it if/when it happens. They are ignored. No who else might have been helpful during the early stages of all of this? The Pandemic Task Force that was disbanded because... reasons.

So, no, the "we had no way of knowing" does not hold water. I've literally said every bit of this already, though. So... whatever. You and BamaFan can keep telling me I'm a know it all and I'm just "bitching" and 12 can keep telling me im angry. We'll just all put our head in the sand and pretend like everything is perfect. Yay.

They ran simulations for this type of situations after Butter Bean took office so where was the playbook? EPIC FAILURE. You can't believe a word out of his mouth. If his lips move he is lying. He stood in the CDC on March 6 and stated anyone that wanted a test could get a test and the test was perfect. Well there were very few tests and they were far from perfect in fact it was defective. Look and listen for yourself.

You can deny it all you want. All it takes is someone reasonably perceptive to see you have a problem. The least bit of conflict, disagreement or stress, and you pull the pin. Everyone here who is saying you have a problem - yes, on this sterile, little message board - that you can't keep yourself in check - they're all completely wrong, and you're right. If you do have a problem, I'm sure it's just on this one little website, and all is well in your daily life. I'm sure you have impeccable relationships elsewhere. I'm sure you sacrifice for your wife and work hard to maintain a good relationship with your Father in-law, for example. Whatever shortcomings you might choose to admit, I'm sure you're just as quick to attribute them to another's provocations.

"Everyone here", yeah all three of you parroting one another. Dude, you do not know me. You have never once had one conversation with me outside of his forum nor would you care to (and trust me it is mutual). I have plenty of "shortcomings" but this "anger issue" you keep bringing up isn't one of them. As far as the rest of your nonsense, yes I do sacrifice for my wife including turning down a dream job in Birmingham because she doesn't want to move from her friends or family. Yes, I have a good relationship with all of my in-laws, as well as my immediate family. I don't have a problem on this website, though other than fake psychiatrists diagnosing me. You take someone cursing or arguing as being "anger" but for the 100th time you don't know me. Here's an idea, stop projecting.

You're probably right. There's no anger in you at all. Carry on. Prayers for your wife.

The federal government didn’t do everything they could that’s plain and simple. They were underbidding states for medical equipment so that FEMA and the government could decide where the medical supplies went. Hell the feds intercepted supplies aimed for Wyoming and guess what we didn’t get shit which in turn led to some of us on the front lines getting the virus because we didn’t have the proper PPE.

As for flu and COVID I can tell you I’ve had both and the flu isn’t shit compared to this. Numbers wise the COVID figures aren’t what some projections said, but they’re not great for a virus we were told wouldn’t do much in this country.

But, what Pumpkin man has said about this virus isn’t any worse than Obama standing at a memorial for 5 murdered cops and talk about how we’re racist and shit or Bush saying Iraq had WMDs. Politicians are pieces of shit and all they care about is the next election not the citizens’ of this country’s lives.

So restricting travel, thus restricting the spread, was meaningless. An astounding assertion.

No. I keep pointing out how you'll throw a quotation or comment out there without telling the entire story. You slant things, often.

As exampled in your last comment...
The Pandemic Task Force that was disbanded because... reasons.

Reorganization is not disbandment. Saying it is suggest all those people are no longer working in their field of expertise within the US government. That is not true. It's misconstruing a story. Eliminating the position of the senior director of the NSC’s Office of Global Health Security and Biodefense is not disbandment as well.

I'll concede this very well may not be your intent but a lot of your opinions voiced here, about a health situation, come from what reads like a political slant. I believe a lot of your opinions are emotionally driven; my perspective based on how things read.
So, no, the "we had no way of knowing" does not hold water.
And yet you, in this very thread, were continually pointing to "conservative estimates at 400K" but "we had no way of knowing how this would end" doesn't hold water? The very figures you were citing have proven to be untrue ...

What?

They ran simulations for this type of situations after Butter Bean took office so where was the playbook?
This reads as an emotionally driven response driven by hate, maybe anger. It's it's not, falling into that "Butter Bean" name calling bit is at best petty; borderline juvenile.

To the core of what you're saying here. POTUS had an "epic failure" because the scientific models/simulations were so off? Simulations for a virus where the scientist were saying wasn't transferable is found to to be transmittable?

What is this? People expecting Jalen to hit a 2' window 50 yards down the field in triple coverage? The woulda, coulda, shoulda ... in hindsight, when the medical community is struggling to catch up to what it is...

It's just unrealistic in my view. It's as if some thing it's as easy as taking your child out of school for a day because a few others caught a cold.

Here's an idea, stop projecting.

Stop projecting, you you've got this idea?
Dude, you do not know me. You have never once had one conversation with me outside of his forum nor would you care to (and trust me it is mutual).
You see, Josh. I've met Tim. While he hasn't "met you or had one conversation outside this forum" saying he would care to is a blatant mischaracterization ... something you're stating while admitting you guys don't know each other personally?

Here I am again, scratching my head, and wondering, "what?"

The title of this thread is about "its effect on sports and life in general." I don't know if it's a lack of empathy. I do know I don't understand the mentality of "his fault, their fault" when we're right in the middle of the damn issue.

This type of thing says more about you there, partner.... (n)

This is silly. As was already said this type of thing says more about you

He's literally been doing this for the past three years. At one point he would quote random things I've said and respond with that same "prayers to your wife." At first I thought he was just a troll but three years of trolling over and over takes a lot of dedication.

Stop projecting, you you've got this idea?

I never said he would care to have a conversation with me outside of this forum. You are mischaracterizing what I said. I said the exact opposite of that.

Ya know, if you EVER came at your buddy in a similar manner I might take some of the things you're saying seriously. But you've sat back for years while "Tim" makes those comments about my wife and then act like I'm the one that is "emotional" or "angry." How many times have you seen me bring "Tim's" wife or his personal life or anyone else's into this. It's projection and you continue to let this bullshit fester and I'm always the bad guy.

I'm always the bad guy.
Time out #1: I've never considered you to be a bad guy.
Ya know, if you EVER came at your buddy in a similar manner I might take some of the things you're saying seriously.
Time out #2: I've had my disagreements on both financial and social issues with more than one on this site.

Lastly, it would seem to me I'm a pretty easy guy to get a read on with most of these things...I've said "stay out of my wallet" and "stay out of m house" for years.
