| LIFE CV-19: Effects on life, work, and sports

(ie, washing hands more frequently), etc.
We told our kiddo to be safe, wash your hands, no sharing food, etc.
You remember the day I sent you those photos of the concrete countertops we were in the middle of pouring? The lady of the house was already on a stay at home order. Both are quarantined for different reasons.

Washing hands: She made the comment the other day "this is School of Rock stuff we saw on Saturday mornings on ABC." That's not the truth, those were about things like the constitution and roles in government—something else she didn't see (or learn.)

I can't begin to tell you how many times my mother and grandmother told me "wash your hands" every single day. Every single hour it seemed. But it's habitual now; likely somewhat obsessive if we were talking about this three months ago.

An ex cautioned, "avoid people in Walmart" to which I could only reply, "where the hell have you been for the last two decades? It's Walmart."

*******

Curiosity led to to go outside and look at what's out there for washing hands...GoJo, Ivory, hand sanitizer, towels, disinfecting wipes, Lysol...that's what I can see from 30' or so.

Why didn't it alarm anyone in global supply chain that one country was buying up all the medical equipment all of the sudden. All the bullshit pointless government jobs and nobody is looking for things like this?
Because it was being conducted through Greenland Group? The holding company is global. In January and February companies within the states were encouraged to ship medical supplies to China. The first confirmed case in the US was ... third week of January? Illinois, right?

An issue that has to be included for context here is when the need arose around the world, China restricted their exports. Yes, we've seen reports about how they donated them now: Japan, as one example, received 1 million mask. (I believe they donated three million to China early this year.)

We are the United States right?
Dealing with a communist regime in China.
We need to wake up, pull everything out of China as quickly as possible.
Ironically enough, I reminded of the conversations we had here about the NBA and China. I seem to recall some mentioning the same thing. 🙃

We need a better plan for how to deal with pandemics in the future, especially those from China.
Which in reality would require monitoring labs, right? Isn't that the current responsibility of the WHO?

Alot of what I'm saying is hindsight, but this information must be critical in our future plans.

I'm just sometimes surprised that the amount of government resources we employee aren't paying attention to these things. But hell, we're constantly changing priorities and cutting funding to important teams.

Guys I know that washing hands, wearing a mask and not getting close to people makes a difference. We are still working at my office and have been the whole time. When we have to go onsite we have mask. Seems like a lot of people are ignoring the rules. I hope when our area opens up it doesn't backfire. There is a local restaurant we support for takeout that opens the bar while we wait for our to go order. Everyone wears mask and gloves. It makes us feel better but I don't know.

and cutting funding to important teams.
A lot of misinformation tossed around about that as well. I've read comments about proposed budget cuts for 2021 as if they've been enacted weeks ago.

A highlight of this week will be tomorrow when we see the perspectives of a lot of people improve. Down to the minute with some.

Here's another observation I heard this weekend.

Cinco De Mayo falls on Tuesday this year and I'm guessing you've heard of Taco Tuesday's. That's going to be messed up by Corona.

Think New Yorkers would have handled this differently knowing what they know now.

^^ What percentage of our available equipment did we give away? What was the condition of the equipment we kept?

The timeline of events really needs to be investigated. There was some real buffoonery happening by our collective leaders...all of which is very well documented.

I'm a firm believer in a lessons learned needs to be done with all of this is said and done. What can we do better next time...because there will absolutely be a next time. You can bet your ass that I'll be spending the next few years preparing for the next time, will any of you?

The timeline, eh?;)

There have been some questionable decisions made. No doubt.

However, calling some of the decisions buffoonery? With so much conflicting information coming from within the medical community worldwide? Josh provides a link showing where the US donated 17+ million tons of medical supplies to China. Was that buffoonery? Before you answer that, consider what would have happened if the US refused?

It's that timeline and choices made in that instant.
