| LIFE CV-19: Effects on life, work, and sports

Does anyone in Washington explain why they do this? Are they really trying to do something good for these countries OR are they getting financial gain? I think I know where my money would go betting between those two things. Surely both Democrat and Republican voters can agree on this one.

Usually it is either to make congresscritters money through connections or it is related to military "needs". Things like we provide x amount of aid and they let us use their airspace or they remain an ally instead of backing China.

Truth to that, and China is outbidding us in broad swaths of the world...

China can't afford for the US to collapse though. It would take down their economy also. The US may be in debt to them heavily, but that also means a large portion of their money is tied up in the US. Mutually assured destruction without a missile launching.

Every time China makes a monstrous loan to a developing country, they are buying an ally and another market, slowly outmaneuvering the U.S. in world politically, and incrementally reducing their reliance on the U.S. consumer. We are still their largest market as of 2019 at a little less than 17 percent, but it was 20 percent a few years ago, and Honk Kong is a declining portion of their exports, meaning they are growing elsewhere.

I can't completely avoid Chinese goods, but I do when I can. I also avoid Amazon when I can. I've railed on this before, but I'd rather buy Tecovas made completely in Mexico than Justin boots when they make a bunch in China.

Trump started with China what should've been done 15 years ago, or more, but he didn't follow through. I have zero confidence that a Biden administration will hold China accountable in any fashion.

Safe to say everyone has someone in the high risk category. I know I do.

I'm glad we found $700mm to give to Sudan, $135mm to Burma, $85.5mm to Cambodia; $130mm to Nepal, $453mm to Ukraine during this crisis. Not to mention $1.4b to the "Asia Reassurance Initiative Act".

Our tax dollars. These politians need to go.

Any of you that are Vets? Have you gotten a letter, email or text about taking the CV-19 shot? I did sometime last week. It asks me would I take it or not? I said, I would take it.

I believe there is enough to support that the mask policy hasn't worked. Some of the highest positive covid counties in the US also have the highest mask compliance in the US.

But hey, you can't walk this back now.

This is a pathetic post. It’s pretty easy. Just don’t be an inconsiderate asshole. And oh yeah, listen to science every once in a while.

I believe there is enough to support that the mask policy hasn't worked. Some of the highest positive covid counties in the US also have the highest mask compliance in the US.

But hey, you can't walk this back now.

Explain why South Dakota has more COVID deaths than South Korea.

California is the most locked down place in the US right? Why are cases so high?

Are you familiar with the population of LA County? Would you be surprised to learn that the population of LA County exceeds the population of 41 states? Wonder if population density could possibly be a factor?

But then again, what about Seoul?

This is hilarious. Anyone who believes there is a single variable in managing COVID is either misinformed or disingenuous. South Korea implemented testing earlier and more robustly - by far - than the U.S. Once they identified those infected, they were quarantined and they contact traced. The slow start of testing in the U.S., and the lack of meaningful contact tracing, can't be ignored.

Also, 40 percent of all U.S. Covid deaths have occurred in nursing homes, and 59 percent of all deaths come from those over 75 (while only being about 11 percent of the population). At least that's the number being batted about. We'll never truly know how many died because of NY's return of the sick to their nursing homes - those numbers were intentionally misreported - yet the guv's been nominated for the Nobel (Rest In) Peace Prize.

Burying my dad Saturday, he caught it, had a lot of underlying issues (diabetes, kidneys didnt work, lost a leg below the knee, on dialysis the past 6 years, went through lung cancer), started feeling bad on the 22nd and passed yesterday a.m. he would have been 82 in February. One tough hombre.

So very sad to hear this. Keeping you and your family in my prayers.
