🏈 College Football Playoff Rankings Discussions & Updates

If Bama doesn't get in, I would never schedule a power 4 out of conference game again. What's the point? Schedule as man easy wins as possible.
You can find this drum in the corner of my office. The first OOC game that "may" mean something isn't until 2027 and who knows what OSU will look like then. If they are down, Bama can only hope ND is a good team in 2029.

Wisconsin didn't help this year; likely won't next. FSU the next two years? Not a lot of faith there. WVU?

(On a side note: Mercer is in the quarterfinals of their playoff.)

I didn’t create players quitting on a team and the fans..
As soon as the cry began against bowl games with adults calling them meaningless. That's when it all began. People younger than you listen, and adopt. So now, that next generation believes what you espoused under the guise of fandom.

The came the BCS. Oh, the computer...and the following classes adopted that mentality.

Expand the playoffs! Look at the money! Lo and behold, the kids looked at the money after you told them to look.

It's akin to a parent telling their kids not to smoke while firing up a dart.

I don’t like it.. anymore than you do”
Money is truly the root of all evil😉

It was the in conference games that cost Bama not the OOC games.

Ok after reading this thread and listening to the talking heads, screw these mouth pieces and put Bama in over SMU. I just want to see the fake outrage. Last night did not change anything with regards to SMU's schedule and wins or lack of them against great competition.

I am still frustrated that Bama has put themselves in this conversation by losing 3 games but in the end I will boldly claim we are BAMA !!!!! Yeah sounds like there is a lot of ego there but it is true.

Bama not only beat the SEC Champion but they also beat the team that just a week ago beat the ACC Champion. If I am being honest neither Clemson nor SMU should be in but the rules are what the rules are.

As I stated earlier if Bama does not get in I will understand that also. Do not lose 3 games but this morning I am being a little defiant and calling for the committee to put us in, the heck with the talking heads.

What hole.
It's spelled out clearly in this thread. #328
How many bama fans would have even watched ACC ccgame last night if cfps were not 12...
Those who are football fans would have watched the game.

That game had no relevance to Bama's situation other than providing a talking point for some, a bitching platform for others, and the spark of paranoia among the rest.

It was a good game to watch between two decent football teams: neither title contenders.

Yeah. I'm going to say it again.

Participation trophy.

We all just need to pay our fair share.

The college game has completely changed. Teams that aren't in the playoffs are gonna have players sitting out left and right. They should make an "nit" for football.
If the school was smart, they’d sit all the players not returning and play the kids of the future and I’d be fine with that.

Well...Clemson has a title..

But if you mean...national title....we shall agree ( finally on something )

They showed their hand a bit last week when they didn't have Louisville ranked. It would have been pretty easy to slot them in at 24 or 25 and give SMU a win over a current ranked team, allowing a bit of cover for them. Not doing so, I think sent the message that it was win or you're out for them vs. Clemson. Now, I'm not sure they anticipated that type of close game, but they probably should have, and it really shouldn't matter much anyway. A loss is a loss in the end... And while it's a different format, they showed last year that they'd even drop a regular season undefeated SEC team out after a 3 point conference title game loss, when UGA fell to Bama. I'm still a bit iffy on they they'll end up doing tomorrow, but I feel confident in saying Bama has a shot still. In fact, I'd probably be more nervous if I was an SMU fan right now.

I still say SMU looked bad for 3.5 quarters. They were faster than Clemson, no doubt, but neither team looked like they belonged. The SEC Championship was a terrible game too. None of the four looked like they belonged over us. Oklahoma was terrible, but the two games last night were no better and some of the least consistent ball I've seen.

The SMU comeback does nothing to change the fact that they played no one and had no top 25 wins. They played a very similar schedule to Miami. If the committee follows the same protocol we should get the same results as last week SMU dropping below us.

I'm of the same mindset, if Miami is dropped for two losses, so should SMU. The differenc between them and a potential Georgia loss was Georgia was tested all year and SMU wasn't, so this game should mean something in that regard.
