They showed their hand a bit last week when they didn't have Louisville ranked. It would have been pretty easy to slot them in at 24 or 25 and give SMU a win over a current ranked team, allowing a bit of cover for them. Not doing so, I think sent the message that it was win or you're out for them vs. Clemson. Now, I'm not sure they anticipated that type of close game, but they probably should have, and it really shouldn't matter much anyway. A loss is a loss in the end... And while it's a different format, they showed last year that they'd even drop a regular season undefeated SEC team out after a 3 point conference title game loss, when UGA fell to Bama. I'm still a bit iffy on they they'll end up doing tomorrow, but I feel confident in saying Bama has a shot still. In fact, I'd probably be more nervous if I was an SMU fan right now.
