| NEWS Colin Kaepernick part of Nike's 30th anniversary of 'Just Do It' campaign

Any of you that want to boycott Nike, send me your size 12's and I will make sure they are disposed of :)

That's something I don't understand. CK has been on the payroll for NIKE for sometime, before this even started. Now, when it's announced, they get pissed. Just don't buy shirts, shoes, etc. that may have his name or likeness on it. I'm going to keep buying my BAMA gear!!

@BamaFan334, the cyber bullying issue is real. I have seen several of our students suffer from it and even my own daughter has had issues with it.

I don't understand why they didn't use a guy like Pat Tillman? That was the ultimate sacrifice a country and even the world could rally around. Based off who they did use, my guess is that a guy like Tillman was never the route they wanted to take, because they pretty much went opposite direction. Not really sure what Kaepernick sacrificed considering he had already made millions. That's not sacrificing to me.

Mostly because Tillman is dead and can't give permission to use his likeness. His family could, but that would mean monetizing his death (even though he was killed by friendly-fire). I'm sure the family prefers to maintain his memory as a spiritual guide, not a commercial one.

Oh yeah, I bet it is. I don't even want to know what goes on in these schools today, but I will learn soon enough as I have four in elementary school and will be headed in that direction. Luckily I grew up on the newness of smart phones and social media after I was in college so I technically "matured" (used loosely) to the fact that sticks and stones may break my bones yadda yadda. Today is a whole new world where social media destroys so many lives. So many folks live an die by Facebook and Instagram, it's comical and unfortunate. How many suicides, murders, assaults, and things of that nature have we seen in the media caused by words on a site like those? Very unfortunate, and the only way to combat it is to raise our kids to try and be tough and that you don't allow intellectually weak people get you down with not so nice words, beat them with kindness and really piss them off by succeeding. We've talked about it on here before amongst ourselves and even about our Tide, there will always be the have-nots that never had drive or ambition trying to bring down those that succeed.

I assumed as much as far as this, but donate that to charity. Monetize off his memory and pass on his legacy to help those that were lucky enough to get out alive that may have issues moving forward to a real sacrifice. Doesn't matter if it was friendly fire, he gave up his millions and right to live, to fight. Take a look at this, the Chuck Keating IV Foundation using t-shirt profits and donations to buy a ranch and spread the love to others like him.

And that the vast majority of the market they're seeking to attract (kids 10 to 18) don't know who Tillman was (sad, but true). Those kids haven't considered if the issue that Kaepernick pushes has relevance or validity. If Nike could sell products sponsored by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, they'd be on twitter now hawking it.

I'll choose how I spend my money. I won't tell you how to spend yours. Organized boycotts are for the sheep, right or left. When NFL attendance and TV ratings declined, it wasn't an organized boycott. Individuals decided to do something else with their time and money.

Tim

I am truly hoping this was made in jest. Because, if you're serious, that's just nasty. No way in Hades am I going to wear someone else's shoes.

One of the great media cons is telling athletes not to discuss the nexus of sports and politics while monetizing segments and pieces on sports and politics.- Richard Deitsch.

One thing that entertains me is the notion/suggestion "don't protest at work." Why?

Tweets like this one. Here's a guy, protesting Nike, at work.

He got the right to protest! I also got the right to protest against him too! So will you also protest against Sport Illustrates, this maz name him man of the year last year! Will these people but this maz because of this?

@TUSKtimes, you know nothing about me. NOT A DAMN THING!!! I have an opinion and it evidently is different than yours. That's what makes this country great. I feel that a vast majority of professional athletes are spoiled rich pricks like the Hollywood elite and they feel they are above reproach.
I know what the protests are about. I don't believe these guys are necessarily the "poster boys" for social injustice. The example you gave, Hell yes! He is an example and I would believe as well.
What the hell does my checkbook and house have to do with it? I've busted my ass everyday for the things I have and I still make sacrifices. I have been working in some shape, form or fashion for 35 years, the last 25 in education!!!! I teach and live in one of the poorest counties in Alabama. My particular school consists of roughly 65-70% free and reduced lunch. Our makeup is roughly 60-40, white to black. I see it everyday!!!!

You asked ME if I'm sure he has experienced any injustice and then proceeded to explain how difficult that is to comprehend given his bank account. I don't see one thing a big house or car or bank account has to do with what's going on with the police department and racial profiling. Other than if the police happen to pick on a rich minority and they survive, they are going to get their backside sued off.

The discussion from Kapernicks point of view is prejudice and bias toward minorities, primarily by the police departments in this country. Which then explains my example. If the police are going to continue to exercise a predisposition about minorities because they are minorities, that humiliation, indignity, loss of life is the "injustice" you asked ME about.

Sometimes life is unfair, can't ever remember reading anywhere that said it was fair. We all face some sort of scrutiny for our looks, our decisions, and things we simply can't help all of the time. Even you on this forum putting down others for their opinion and trying to belittle them is a form of injustice that leads people to suicide all of the time, it's called cyber bullying. There are all kinds of forms of injustice and we are all privy to it. This is just a case of someone trying to scream louder than everyone else.

That's interesting. Be more specific on all this "cyberbullying." Shouldn't be too difficult, given you're privy to all the injustices going on these days.

Look! I get it! You want to be argumentative! Go look in the mirror because I'm done. I did ask if he had suffered any i justice. You and CK must be family by the way you jumped to respond. I gave an opinion as to how I feel. That's what we get to do here. We can agree to disagree and move along.

Or simply present another opinion. See how that works?

Hey, I completely admit to talking shit to you and others on here and even elsewhere, but I'm not also out there bitching like a little baby that I have been mistreated either, even though I'm sure I could scrape up some evidence of that somewhere on here. Your holier than thou stance on this isn't making you come across as any more of a savior than Kaepernick, or any kind of authoritative figure on the matter. None of us are perfect. Willing to bet you and anyone else, including Kaepernick $1M that even Kaepernick has treated someone poorly in the past based off their look, skin color, culture, or anything else suggesting injustice.
