🏈 CFBW: RT @NWARobbie: QB Tyler Wilson's message to DBs lined up against Arkansas' big receivers: "Goo

I brought this over here for one specific reason.

I'm beginning to get the impression that Tyler is "reading his own press clippings."

Don't get me wrong. I'm thoroughly impressed with this kid. The beating he took last year and he continued to pop back up impressed me as much as anything I saw last year.

That said, when I see this video, read his remarks, and then weigh that with some of the things I know about JL Smith? I see the makings of a QB that a good defense can get a mental edge on that'll lead to mistakes.

I'm not saying I think UArk is going to be that great this year because since BP was the play caller, but how much influence do you really think JLS is going to have over them? From what I understand, he's nothing but a figure head. There to do the press conferences and such, and has already been told he has no shot at the permanent gig, no matter how well the team does this year?

On the slim chance JL puts a 10-2 in the books he'll be a hard man to fire. He's got his mind on being the HC next year.

It's not so much the influence he has over them, but the influence he doesn't have over them. A good HC has to keep his kids grounded. I like JL a lot but don't see that as his strong suit.

Good point about keeping them grounded. Seems to me like he'd be a very good motivator as long as things are going good, but he also seems like the type that may go off the deep end when things go wrong.

Go to youtube and look up JL Smith...there's several clips where he's lost it on the field.

When it comes to coaches on the UArk sideline and our games together Nutt made me more nervous than Petrino and JL is below both.

The thing with JL is there are so many coaches out there that just respect him as a person tremendously. I've seen comments by McElwain, as example, about JL. When we hired Nussmeier, JL was one of the guys he spoke with about the position here which I found reassuring. Nuss knew what he was getting into in terms of job requirements.

I'd love to see an 11-1 UArk team in December.
