We are only 2 weeks into SEC play and while some of the above isn't surprising, there's a couple of head scratchers. Weeks 3 and 4 should tell use quite a bit about how much thus far as been schedule based results for some teams and which teams are actually contenders for one of the top spots in the league.

First off, let's look at the rankings (I use D1Baseball)...

1. Tennessee
2. Arkansas
3. Georgia
4. Florida State
5. Texas
6. Clemson
7. LSU
8. Oregon State
9. Oregon
10. Oklahoma
11. Wake Forest
12. Alabama
13. Dallas Baptist
14. Ole Miss
15. Southern Miss
16. Auburn
17. North Carolina
18. Arizona
19. Vanderbilt
20. Troy
21. UC Irvine
22. UCLA
23. Georgia Tech
24. NC State
25. Louisville

Upcoming SEC Schedule

Tennessee at South Carolina -
The Gamecocks are really struggling and now have to welcome arguably the SEC's best team to town. Paul Mainieri may end up wishing he'd just stayed on the beach.

Florida at Ole Miss - Florida hasn't just stumbled coming out of the SEC gate, they've been trampled. They are built to win though and can go on a run at any point. I expect them to find their footing in Oxford, but they better show up ready to play.

auburn at Georgia - auburn has been playing some good baseball. Georgia has been playing some great baseball. Can auburn cool off the UGA bats enough to steal the series? I doubt it, but it should be a good weekend of baseball in Athens.

Kentucky at Texas A&M - Like the Gators, the Aggies have not been playing anywhere close to their ability. Kentucky has taken a step back from last year's squad, but they are still good and don't beat themselves. The Aggies need to find a way to win this series, but at this point, just getting a conference W would be a start.

Arkansas at Vanderbilt - Vandy will have their hands full with the Hogs. Also, I hate Arkansas baseball fans.

Texas at Missouri - Texas gets to play the White Sox of the SEC.

Mississippi State at LSU - The Bulldogs need wins and I'm not sure LSU as quite as good as advertised right now. Would love to see MSU steal this series in Red Stick.

Oklahoma at Alabama - Bama is gonna want to bounce back and must defend their home turf this weekend. Losing another home series would be a difficult hole to escape if they want to finish near the top of the SEC. The Witherspoon brothers are a dynamic duo (led by Kyson) on the hill, but like LSU, IMO the team as a whole seems to be a bit overrated in the polls.

Seems like the suspension part is, cbs had an article on it, but they took it down.

To be clear, I wasn't implying your post was BS, just the actual suspension story/rumor. If he was suspended, something would come from the SEC Office on it. But to get 4 games, he'd have had to pretty much fight the umpire. Or spit on him. This was just your run of the mill ejection... he's good.

Sunday night update since weekend’s games are done... Florida won 1 of 3 in Oxford, finally getting their first SEC win. UGA swept auburn. Arkansas swept Vandy at Vandy. Kentucky took 2 of 3 from A&M. Vols swept SC. Texas swept Missouri. And LSU swept MSU.

Updated SEC standings…

Coming up next in SEC play…

Alabama @ auburn
South Carolina @ MSU
Ole Miss @ Kentucky
Georgia @ Texas
Vanderbilt @ Florida
Texas A&M @ Tennessee
LSU @ Oklahoma
Missouri @ Arkansas

Bama at auburn should be a hard fought series. UGA at Texas will be fun. LSU at Oklahoma will be interesting… I still think both are slightly overrated, but both are still really good.

D1 Baseball has the Tide ranked in the same spot: #8.

On Monday, the Crimson Tide jumped a total of three spots up from No. 11 to No. 8, rising into the Top 10 for what is the first time this season. Beginning the season unranked, this is Alabama's highest ranking so far this season.

LSU's Kade Anderson went CGSO @ OU tonight... 135 pitches (91 strikes). Don't see that too much these days... LSU won 2-0.

Knoxville: T8, 23 runs so far. A&M up by 11.

Had a post in the holster....

Last night, the Vols no-hit the Aggies and beat them 10-0 in Knoxville (Texas A&M only had 1 SEC win coming into this weekend). A&M had to turn around and play a DH today. Aggies won game 1, 9-3 and now hammering the Vols in game 2, 17-6. Maybe A&M woke up?

I'd love to see them get run ruled as A&M wins the series.

Top ten OU swept this weekend by LSU.
