Obviously a big series... Bama has dropped 3 of their last 4 SEC series after starting off with a sweep of Texas A&M. The starting pitching has been lackluster, though last weekend, it was better as a whole (especially Quick). The hitting has also cooled of considerably as SEC play has worn on, which is a concern. IMO, a couple of the guys are due to breakout though... Hodo and Snell specifically. As for LSU, they are coming off getting swept at auburn, so more than likely, this will be a hornets nest. The Tide currently sits 8-7 in the league... leaving this series at .500 (or better) is my hope. Don't want to see LSU get a sweep. Would love Bama to steal the series... Getting the win tonight won't be easy. LSU's ace Kade Anderson (6-1, 3.48) is arguably the SEC's top pitcher (right there with OU's Kyson Witherspoon and TN's Liam Doyle). He will be a top pick in the MLB draft this spring. Bama's Zane Adams (3-2, 6.18) will need his best outing in a while. He took the loss against the Tigers a year ago, but just duplitaing that outing would be a step up (5.1 IP, 3 ER) and give Bama a chance to win. Hopefully Bama shows up ready to go and swing the bats well...

Snell just hit his 2nd HR of the game (Bonomolo Jr. followed with a solo shot)... Bama up 5-1, still batting T6. Really nice (and important) that Snell is swinging good to start this series...

Love Hodo, and UA needs his bat in the lineup, but he is just too much of a liability at 1B. Torres is the far better fielder, and if they are gonna insist on playing Torres, he needs to be at 1st instead of paying out of position at third (where he too becomes a liability). If they aren't gonna play Torres, I get it, but the staff should have brought someone in to work with Hodo a while back. He's lost defensively. Nothing wrong with him being a DH.

In the books... LSU wins 11-6.

This is where the game flipped... and after a better look, yeah, I don't really mind Lebron taking it. Not as close as I thought at first. Just a blown call. But the ump was all over with his zone, especially low, which makes it tough.

Good news: Fay pitched his ass off and gave Bama a chance... he went 3 innings, gave up just 1 run (had 6 K's). Heiberger followed and pitched well too. Snell had 2 HR's which will hopefully get his bat going again. Bonomolo Jr. added 2 hits (solo HR included) from the cleanup spot. Brady Neal touched up his former team for a HR.

Bad news: Pretty much everything else.

The ball goes to Riley Quick tomorrow night... if he can duplicate or build of his outing vs. MSU last weekend, Bama will again at least have a chance.

Hard to tell even going slow motion where the ball was when it crossed the plate. It was certianly low where he caught it. Seems to close to take.
