| RECRUIT Bama Football Recruiting

Unfortunately I agree there could be someone transfer after spring or fall camp if they think they are falling behind the others. This RB room is unbelievable for the upcoming season. I wish they would find a way to get them all touches. KRob and Wheaton especially could probably line up in a few different ways- McClelan might have good hands also. All these RB's are uber talented. Dont want to lose any of them, and dont want any of them to waste away on the bench either. Sometimes I get frustrated that Coach refuses to find ways to feed super talented guys to keep them happy. For example I dont think McClelan or Williams got to tote the rock not even one time during the final garbage minutes vs Ohio State. What would it hurt ?

I think in that case, it was that BRob barely got any carries throughout the game. So I'm sure the staff wanted to feed him a little, and he ran hard as shit!

But in general I agree with the sentiment that it would be great to see more of those guys. In some cases it's just not possible... Najee made it really hard to take him off the field. Although I do give a ton of credit to the staff for trusting B Rob on one of those 3rd quarter drives in the Natty - They left him out there and he kicked ass!

He indeed was running hard in the NC game. He did all year but seemed to amp it up a little bit in the last few games. Hard to take a 3 down back like Najee off the field. His pass catching made him even more dangerous. Robinson could make him some bucks next year if he does what many think he will do.

Exactly. Najee got so good at catching passes, and basically never got tired, so there was no reason to take him off the damn field! 😂

Top performers from the TXHSFB 5A and 6A state championship games

quote:
JOJO EARLE - ALABAMA

Alabama four-star receiver signee JoJo Earle gained more than 200 yards from scrimmage on 18 offensive touches to help Aledo to its 56-21 Class 5A Division II title rout of Crosby. Earle's trademark quick-footed, sudden athleticism fueled his performance, which included six catches for 133 yards and a touchdown, a highlight-reel 74-yarder in the first quarter. He also ran 12 times for 91 yards. The 5-foot-9 1/2, 170-pounder is a top 50 overall prospect on the 247Sports Composite. His versatility, which includes dangerous return game ability, could get him on the field sooner than later at the next level. Earle is part of an elite receiver class for Alabama, which sits at No. 1 on the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings.

Rival Views: Which 2021 prospect was the hardest to rank?

GORNEY'S VIEW: J.T. TUIMOLOAU

One of the hardest things about the COVID-19 shutdown is that evaluations are much tougher because seeing players often, at multiple events, against different competition and most important against elite players is really the best way to formulate an opinion and hopefully get the most accurate ranking on every prospect.

Rankings take time. They take seeing players a whole lot to really determine strengths and weaknesses and forming an opinion that could change over time.

But J.T. Tuimoloau has not done many national events. He did not participate in the All-American Combine in San Antonio last winter. The All-American Bowl in recent weeks was canceled.

Here’s what I know about the five-star defensive end from Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic: He’s freaky athletic for his size. He has an excellent frame to build upon. Even when he flips over and plays tight end, Tuimoloau is special and dominant. He’s also a really talented basketball player, which I love for his future in football.

There is a chance that Tuimoloau is the best prospect in this class because of his size and versatility along the defensive line. He might prove that. But I just hesitate to get so hyped about his ranking since he hasn’t had a senior season and has not been seen against elite competition much in his high school career.

J.T. Tuimoloau, 5-star SDE, Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic

Five schools remain standing for the top prospect in the Top247 — Alabama, Ohio State, Oregon, USC and Washington. Ask anyone that’s tracked this recruitment closely and they’d tell you it’s really the Crimson Tide and the Buckeyes duking it out down the home stretch. Former offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian was Tuimoloau’s area recruiter prior to taking the head coaching position at Texas. Defensive line coach Freddie Roach and defensive coordinator Pete Golding are now tasked with the job. With Feb. 3 just over a two weeks away, it’s not clear if a decision will even come on National Signing Day, or drag out into the spring. Tuimoloau once visited Tuscaloosa in the summer of 2018. He has not yet been to Columbus. The 247Sports Crystal Ball favors the Buckeyes, albeit at a very low confidence rating. "Just getting to talk to coach Saban and coach Roach, and the culture that Bama has, it’s always been up there,” Tuimoloau recently told 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman. "Getting to talk with coach Saban more, talking with him frequently, he has a history, and I like what he’s doing and is continuing to do."

Terrion Arnold, 4-star S, Tallahassee (Fla.) John Paul II Catholic

Unlike Tuimoloau, we know a decision will be announced on Feb. 3 for Terrion Arnold. That’s when the All-American DB will make known his commitment, with Alabama, Florida, and Georgia still standing in the race for his pledge. Bama has been near the top of Arnold’s list since it offered in November of 2019. In recent weeks, the elite safety says Nick Saban has personally taken over his recruitment. That to go along with his already established relationships with both safeties coach Charles Kelly and outside linebackers coach Sal Sunseri. "He says he really wants me and they really need me,” Arnold said of his conversations with Saban. “He talks about the background history with the DBs. He feels like I can be one of those greats." There are varying trains of thought on where Arnold could end up between his top three, with an argument to be made for each program.

Alabama enters picture for Blue

Alabama offered Jaydon Blue earlier this month, and that could be a game-changer. The Crimson Tide might be out in front for the Houston (Texas) Klein Oak standout and a commitment in the coming weeks might happen. Seeing what Alabama did to Ohio State in the national championship and just watching that offense is a major selling point to Blue, but others will be fighting it out as well, with Oklahoma, Texas, LSU and Georgia also in the running for Blue.

10 potential early-impact signees in the Class of 2021

quote:
JACOREY BROOKS, WR

School: Alabama

High school: IMG Academy (Bradenton, Florida)

Class rank: 34

Position rank: 2

The receiving talent that has come out of Alabama in the Nick Saban era has been nothing short of elite. So with Jaylen Waddle and Heisman winner DeVonta Smith among the notable departures this offseason for the defending national champions -- the two caught for more than 2,000 yards combined this season -- could Jacorey Brooks step up amid that lost production and make his mark as a true freshman? The IMG Academy product is the highest-rated receiver in Alabama's 2021 class and already enrolled earlier in the month, so keep close eyes on the 6-foot-3, 185-pound wideout as preparations ramp up in the spring for the 2021 campaign. If history means anything, South Florida has seen some of the Tide’s top receivers of all-time come from the region. Brooks is next up in a long line that includes Jerry Jeudy, Calvin Ridley, and Amari Cooper.

TOMMY BROCKERMEYER, OT

School: Alabama

High School: All Saints (Fort Worth, Texas)

Class rank: 5

Position rank: 1

Tommy’s father Blake was an All-American offensive lineman for Texas in the 1990s before he was drafted in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft, and the nation’s top tackle’s older brother Luke is currently on the roster in Austin. These ties, plus the fact that Tommy and his twin brother, Jake, are in Texas’ backyard a few hours away in Fort Worth gave UT fans plenty of optimism early. But it was Alabama that got the ball rolling in its direction since the start of 2020 and landed both twins. Looking ahead to 2021, Alabama will have several holes to fill on an offensive line that won the Joe Moore Award this past year, most notably losing Alex Leatherwood and Landon Dickerson. No questions asked, there will be plenty of competition already in Tuscaloosa for Brockermeyer to work past if he is to vault himself immediately into a starting role, though it wouldn't be unprecedented. The 2016 campaign saw Jonah Williams immediately break onto the scene as a true freshman starter, and Brockermeyer will certainly hope to be next in line when it comes to Alabama players who leave that type of legacy behind them.

From the Texas 247 site:

quote:
It sounds like the Texas pursuit of Camar Wheaton is all but dead. Texas assistants reached out to the five-star Alabama signee from Garland (Texas) Lakeview Centennial, but Wheaton isn't interested in hearing from any coaches right now. Wheaton was notorious for hating the recruiting process during the year, and that hasn't changed. Sources on the Alabama side have been confident in keeping Wheaton, and it sounds like he has zero interest in moving on.

Rival Views: Who did enough to keep their fifth star?

quote:
2. RB CAMAR WHEATON

FARRELL: YES

He’s a track kid with size and that’s a nice combination for a running back. If he stays patient and waits his turn as Derrick Henry and Najee Harris did stardom is his but it wouldn’t matter where he played he’s an elite running back and will have success.

GORNEY: YES

Whether Wheaton is the best running back in the class - and some could argue even in his own state since LJ Johnson could hold that title - is up for debate but I do think he’s a five-star. He has excellent speed, he can run by anybody and he is also a receiving threat out of the backfield. His numbers throughout high school were excellent and he’s going to an offense that will open up huge holes for him to run. Wheaton has all the opportunities in the world to be the next superstar back at Alabama.

Rivals Rankings Week: Who should be the No. 1 prospect in 2021?

quote:
OT JC LATHAM

Latham’s play and development over the last year has placed him in this discussion. He was a defensive lineman that played basketball a couple of years ago that made the move to offense, and quickly became a top prospect at tackle. He has the ideal frame, he bends well, he plays a premiere position, and Alabama is known for developing players across the board for the NFL, so there are a lot of things in Latham’s favor. - Rivals Southeast Analyst Chad Simmons
