šŸ€ Avenatti releases document dump on NIKE and paying players. Several names cited

College basketball is the most corrupt sport on the planet and there probably is never going to be any fixing it. This shit goes deep, all the way down to the AAU levels.

They just need to let players know that, from X date forward, players who play for an AAU team will not be eligible for NCAA competition. Bold step, but that would do it, until the money started another league/funneling service.

Will that actually happen though? Remember Shapiro and Miami? That scumbag had all kinds of shit on Miami and did they get killed? Nope! NCAA has no teeth and they won’t do shit to Coach K and Duke because this guy is a scumbag just like Shapiro.
It's important to remember the reason the investigation fell on its face in Miami wasn't due to them "lacking teeth," it was lacking integrity. Much like Bama with "SW1, SW2, et. al" the way they came by their information wasn't above board.

Nothing like watching the other sneaker drop. You know that Adidas has been competing with the other shoe guys for players all along. This will hopefully expose the rest of the story. I just wish the FBI had been doing their wiretapping thing in Nikeville to back this dude up.

Definitely agree. Laughable to the highest degree if everyone thinks Adidas was the only company paying bribes.

Nike is lucky right now. Avenatti was already greatly hated by a large swath of the population and then when he got indicted pretty much every one else turned on him, too. I don't think Nike can hide behind "yeah but a scumbag is the one 'exposing' us" for much longer.

We've certainly seen a large share giving him credence before this story broke.

On a different note, it gives another perspective on why Ball and his sons were so interested in getting into the shoe game.

Doesn't it take a crook to expose a crook? They've been getting mafia dudes to turn rat for decades. Canseco was a steroid user that knew firsthand about the blatant PED abuse in baseball.

I don't think it makes this guy any less credible as a witness. In fact, he may be getting dangerously close to being overqualified.

For me that's where the 'entertainment' value is found in this whole story.

He was a purported 'bastion of integrity' just a few months ago by outlets like MSNBC, CNN, and others. But now that it's against NIKE?

Maybe I'm just naive here but I never heard a single person prop him up as some "bastion of integrity." He was a dude representing a porn star that was paid off by the president. That's pretty much how I saw him portrayed. Yes, he wanted to pretend like he might run for president and there were a few commentators willing to roll with that stupidly but I think we can safely say running for president surely doesn't mean you have to have integrity anymore.

Come on, Josh. He was on air over 100 times for those two networks alone. If that's isn't a ringing endorsement of ones credibility and standing within a news department please give me a better example.

One thing to note here...the use of the apostrophe in
'bastion of integrity'
was meant to note a tone of hyperbole.
