If it were only that simple.

The only reason I recognized the word was due to running across it some years ago when I was reading a novel. I want to say it was a Jonathan Kellerman book although it may have been his wife. Her books usually have a sub-plot dealing with things related to the Jewish faith (Yiddish speech)...in this case your spelling is different.
