🏈 Y'all see this about Oatis?

Already lost 46 plus losing another 25lb... that puts him in at almost 400lbs! Did he really come in that big?
Stories circulated around the AL/MS All-Star game he was pushing 400 then and reported around the same weight. He's made a lot of progress in a short time. I don't know that he'll be able to get snaps this fall but he'll need to drop a little more to be able.

He's starting to look the part. The last photo is Jaheim from the MS/AL All Star game.

After watching A-Day, do you want to walk this back a bit? I think he might wind up in 2 deep rotation.

not trying to defend him, but no he doesn't have to walk back his comments. Real test begins now and continue into fall camp. Fall camp is a whole different beast compared to spring camp.
I'm the one walking it back. I've gotten Oatis & Burroughs mixed up. I was basing my comment on 98's play during A-Day, not 91.

No. Not really. Early in this thread I dropped a caveat~

If he can drop another 25-30 lbs and get to a 325 range?
The 325 range and we may see him fill a role like the aforementioned Cody (@OldPlayer TC was hovering around 400 when he reported as well.)

Saban, when talking about Cody, put that 325-330 goal in front of him looking for a three down player. I can see Oatis in that role IF he can get the weight down a little more.

On a related note about the defensive line and what the staff has as their goal...

Including Oatis there's another nine guys that could get snaps in the fall and that's just for the interior of the defensive line. The staff sees a good possibility they can have as many as eight in rotation. In base we're looking at three who have come along a lot better than were expected. In other words, talent is starting to come to fruition. They'd be fairly strong with Tim, Byron, and DJ in the middle...but now we're looking at kids like Payne, Burroughs, Eboigbe, Goodwine...all starting to show "flashes" of how good they can be.

Overall, I feel better about the DL now than I did going into spring camp.

Oh to get back to that front 7 defense like 2011 & 2016, and keeping them fresh ALL Season. I wonder if there is anything to this every 5-6 years DL dominance teams?

Cautious optimism on the D because I thought they would be the strength of the team last year and they had some struggles early and then let down in the last 8 minutes of the NC game. On paper they look very good this year but they have some positions that need to shore up (ILB/CB). Hopeful for sure.

Maybe. Maybe you can say that about the interior of the defensive line. Maybe on Moody. We've seen what he's brought and the same can be said for Dale, and Young, and I understand the staff is really pleased with how Tim Smith is coming along.

On paper ... just doesn't fit, right?
