🏈 Where from Here?

Sure we had plenty of talent but outside of Steen and Kouandjio not alot of starts... dont pretend like that isnt a factor. They struggled at times but also were very impressive at times, and yeah I heard a team comment on that. LSU and then I saw that same line run them slam off the field... I love this mindset of one year and you're done. Mario isn't going anywhere.

Maybe I was spoiled by Stoutland, but the line last year was looser and less disciplined despite the stats. I agree on the number of starts, but we had dealt with that before in previous years. I just think the lack of discipline and how loose the unit was is a reflection on the line coach. Defend him all you want, but Cristobal is no Stoutland.

Perhaps, Stoutland was a better O-line coach. Can you rationally confirm that after just once season w/ Cristobal? I don't think you can, rationally. For as long as I have been a fan, I have always followed this job & I thought nobody was going to be as good as Pendry who retired after the 2010 season. How did that turn out?

Also, who is the unquestionable leader on the O-line? Barrett was that guy who did it under Pendry & Stoutland's entire tenure. So who is it now? The mere fact that I have to ask is almost as big an issue as coaching.

FWIW, I am cautiously optimistic b/c of this years stats & players. I know this though, Cristobal is much better recruiter than Stoutland & Pendry. So I want him to earn his keep.

If we come out trying to make Sims play QB as a pure pocket passer, im going to really get more into grilling and cornhole next fall.

He has great running ability though and throws well enough to run a good version of what the barn, tamu or ms st run on offense.

How do you guys come up w/ this stuff? Blake was not some converted RB as some would suggest. His team made it to the AAA finals, much to do w/ his ability at QB.

Is he getting thrown under the bus b/c he can run? It sure seems that way. I seem to remember a few QB's that could run, who gave 'Bama some problems.

Can you guys do a little better qualifying your remarks?

I'm going to be quiet on making predictions about what is going to happen next year. Saban and his staff evaluate the players daily. I watch on Saturdays. When McCarron and Simms competed in the A-Day game I thought Simms would be the starter. Yeah, I know a lot, huh.

I will make this prediction. Saban is on campus again next year. The Tide's going to be dang good. You can count on that one.

Agreed Blake was a qb converted to running back not the other way around. Now he's back to his position. Criticism of his decision making and accuracy is legit tho. He really looks like he's improved in both departments but we've only seem him against scrubs mostly. His running ability and package of different plays he would afford us that AJ Greg or JPW couldn't is interesting at the least.

I will qualify my statement by saying that i have seen Blake run a good bit and i love his speed, field awareness and size. I have also seen him frequently be unsettled in the pocket and default to running. I have seen 30+ years of qbs at alabama and i have done a pretty good job at predicting how well they would fare. Only a couple have ever really surprised me.

Blake can be a good qb for Alabama but it will not be as a pocket passer pro style qb. I dont think im reaching a lot to say that.

Anyone think Pagan will return? Hubbard is more than likely gone, though I think he should stay. Returning Pagan up front would be a huge boost for the defensive front and he could improve his stock tremendously.
