D-line , watching teams be able to run the ball to get that 2 or 3 yards consistently on third down to keep the drive alive . And a little pressure up the middle would help the DB’s tremendously.
Inside LB play. Moses and McMillon both back and healthy and you have Harris and Lee who had both been thrown to the fire last year with valuable experience.
QB play. Last couple of years has been sketchy lol.
In all seriousness w/o a doubt the DL. Unacceptable to see teams be able to consistently run the ball against us. When you can't stop the run you cannot control the game.
3rd down situations on defense. Not sure if that was what you were looking for so I ETA:
Since so many have already stated D line, I will say D secondary.
I want to see the defensive backfield not allow so many intermediate receptions where a receiver like Ja'Mar Chase can run all over us. Pretty much not allow what Waddle and Ruggs are really good at against everyone else.
upfront guys have gotta occupy some doubles and keep folks from crashing down on LB. by the same token the ILB must be in position. Also need to see some penetration on the interior by the guys up front. ILBs do not overplay the gaps
For me this is a little tough. The DL needs to clog and penetrate better. The linebackers need to be faster, right place at the right time....
I'm going with the LBs.
Watching on SEC network the 1992 SEC championship game. I will take the Defense and more specifically the DL play from that team this year!!!! Would be awesome.
