With Arlington getting the 1st NC

Jerry should be very happy!

Stop lying. Rev is very happy if Jerry's World gets the 1st NC. And, FWIW, all members here (subject to my approval) get discounts on the tickets you'll be selling. I'll make sure that's included in the forum rules if need be. :icon_twisted:

As we've discussed on the phone, I'm 99.9 percent sure you're right on the locations. We'll know today. If you look at the post showing the schedule you can see Central, Eastern, and Western locations. That fits with what I was told last December with Dallas, Atlanta, and Tempe getting the final three spots.

Are we gonna see the SEC go to 9 conf games in a few months, partly due to the new playoff?
You can bet it'll be discussed in the SEC meetings early this summer.

There were a few schools who were against it last year. Where they stand this season? That's anyone's guess. If I recall correctly, the administration at Georgia was one of the groups that were adamantly against the 9-game schedule last summer. Considering they haven't had any turnover in the Ath. Dept in regard to football I'd assume their stance will remain the same. It seems there were a total of three schools against it last year?

That said, with UGA being left out of the BCS picture last season, they may rethink their position.

On a slightly related note:

This season we are looking at a 14 week regular season (versus 13 in previous years.) IF the NCAA would extend the season one week I think we'd find it a given that all of the major conferences would move to a 9-game regular season.

Personally, I believe the next major move we see is going to come with the Big12 going back to 12 games.

I think the Big XII will adding the conf championship game as well, they are really trying too hard to sell the idea that playing the entire conference is harder and valuable.

Haven't listened to the SEC Coaches Media call today, but sounds as if the 9 game conf schedule was a pretty hot topic - several coaches commented on it. The new SEC channel could also help push the 9 game schedule as well.

I don't see how strength of schedule doesn't make them hurry along with their move.

Consider a Big12 team would have played three ranked teams last year. The B1G, in no better shape top to bottom, faces three and has the CCG. Meaning, in 2012 their left out of the playoffs EVEN IF they had a top 10 team to finish the year. In 2011, with TCU and West Va. out, it's no better. If we look at the preseason poll we won't find a team from the Big12 in the top 10 and if they are lucky they'll get two in the top 15 depending on where they place OU. Texas, as abysmal as that program is right now, will get top 15 love only to fall out of the top 20 by mid season.

That alone tells you why that conference was so eager to sign the agreement for the Champions Bowl.

To clarify this update:

The Peach is the Chick-Fil-A.

One thing to take note of...I'm hearing they are going to use the name Peach Bowl instead of, or at least with, the game in ATL. If you noticed, all of the other six carry their traditional names: Cotton, Sugar, Rose, etc., and aren't using a corporate name in their actual title. IE: It's going to be called the Cotton Bowl despite it being the AT&T Cotton Bowl.
