It's interesting to me his argument for Mason begins by laying the foundation of "look what happened when Stanford played Oregon."
If we go with that premise we could say "look what Oregon did when they played Mississippi State and Tennessee," or "look what happened to Oregon when they played LSU and Auburn." Two different levels of competition which ended in two different sets of results.
