🏈 Tony Brown Sent Home (rejoins team meetings Weds.)

I'd say starting a fight with your DL two days before the college football playoffs, when you've already got some trouble on your record, is enough to get kicked off ..

Without attempting to reach too far into a complex issue of which I have no first hand information, I wonder how much Tenpenny resonates with CNS on such a decision.

Ultimately, the choice is the players to leave or stay if he won't see the field or can't work out of doghouse (similar to Tenpenny).

But, so long as the player can be marginalized from affecting the locker room from here forward, CNS may think the best chance for Tony's personal development and emotional stability is to stay with friends and knowns in the existing structure.

He doesn't seem to like rules. He was arrested shortly after arriving on campus. He's been in Saban's doghouse for actions on the field. Now this. How many think he's done at Alabama?

If the reports are accurate, I think this was more about removing a distraction prior to a big game vs long term punishment. I think he still has a chance to stick around (he was on record saying he wanted to be more emotionally consistent in an interview this week). I'll read that as he's acknowledged this is a huge area of opportunity for himself to become the player he can easily be. Which I would imagine the coaches will continue to try to help the young man out. Acknowledging the issue is the first step...

We pursued and signed a known hoe slapper. Brown has a temper and also the potential to be a great DB. Lighten up Francises.

Agreed. He has admitted that he has a bit of a problem controlling his emotions. It's my hope that he sticks around and Coach Saban gets him all the assistance he can to resolve that.

I also hope he makes it to Arizona for the title game.

Nick Saban addresses suspension of Alabama DB Tony Brown

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Alabama sent reserve defensive back Tony Brown home before last Thursday’s Cotton Bowl victory over Michigan State for reportedly starting a fight at practice.

When asked for an update on Brown’s status during Monday’s teleconference, Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban’s answer seemed to leave doubt as to whether the defender will play in the team’s national title bout with Clemson, either.

“Tony Brown is suspended and until we get any new information he will continue to be suspended,” Saban said.

Brown, a sophomore, has recorded 16 tackles and two pass breakups in 13 games this season. He notably incurred Saban’s wrath after committing a penalty in the SEC Championship game.
