I've heard that he has a number he wants to hit before he hangs it up. If it's one more title, then that's reasonable. That's 8 overall, 7 at Bama. However, if it's the 3 peat...that's not really plausible. If we didn't pull it off when we were 2/3 of the way there years ago (2011-2013) then I don't see how it happens now, from scratch. If he can still go, and he's not slowly turning into Paterno/Bowden, then great. I just don't want him to go out with 4 and 5 loss seasons and be remembered for that

College football has changed and so have the players. But that isn't the reason for the struggles.

The OC and DC are the reason for the struggles. For a long time, you only got one struggling at a time, so the team kept winning. But this year you've seen both having problems in the same game. Couple that with Bryce being hurt and you have 2 last second losses and 2 last second wins.

Just as a thought exercise - if you had Garrett Riley or AJ Milwee as OC next year, and Glen Schuman or Jimmy Lake as DC next year, that team is going to be in the SECCG and will be a playoff contender.

Actually, I think this is a pretty good excuse as it's a clear penalty. But the fact that the QB then ran for a 25 yard TD after he got past Moody thanks to this illegal block tells you the D wasn't prepared for it and didn't have players there to make the tackle

You can call him but he’s not coming and to be honest, I don’t really want him. He loves everything about Clemson and just as importantly he wife loves everything about that community. They’re both very spiritual and they’re very close with their pastor and their church. He’s making as much money as he would with Bama, he can get great recruits, he can more easily win championships there instead in the SEC so why would he ever leave Clemson? This is not a momma calling me home story … as he considers Clemson his home. He also takes his advice from Stallings and as we’ve seen Stallings isn’t exactly Bama’s biggest promoter. I don’t think Saban will leave after one tough season but he will if 2023 is a repeat of 2022. If he does retire, I’d call Hugh Freeze if he’s available though I doubt he will be. He’s paid his penitence and he’s a very good coach. If you can make Liberty a top 25 team, you’re a very good coach.

It will be the easiest of searches because everybody will want the job. Good facilities, good roster, good brand, good fan support, good administration support. There’s not a lot of selling to be done. The only negative is who will want to follow Saban?

Change those all of those good to great and I agree with you @OldPlayer .

I agree with you but if Alabama loses, for whatever reason, the fan support is iffy. Everyone who doesn’t coach becomes an expert at coaching.
