There are several different aspects of the proposed bill I don't like. If I were sitting in Washington, I'd have voted against the bill. No second thoughts.

There is one thing about that proposal that just doesn't make sense to me given what we've been told.

One of the components of the bill is they would stop border crossings, every day, when they reach the 5000 limit. If I understand this correctly, #4999 and #5000 can get in, but #5001 is stopped (until tomorrow.)

If they have the ability to stop at 5000 doesn't that mean they have the ability to stop at 1?

Biden’s new so-called executive order is actually worse than what we had.. Now 2500 terrorist and criminals can just simply turn themselves in every day.. then the border is shut down until the next day…. 12 hours later, 2500 more criminals and terrorist can turn themselves in..They don’t have to run (become getaways) if they have not been recently deported.. unaccompanied minors do not count in these numbers numbers at all.. the “fifth column” invasion continues… These unaccompanied minors can simply lie about their age and be gang members, criminals, and terrorist.. simply put “we are fucked” ..

Actually, he did not issue an executive order. It is a proclamation similar to proclaiming a day to celebrate or honor a group or individual. My understanding of the difference is the legal basis of what can or can’t be done, or more specifically what can be overturned.

From Quora:

A “proclamation” is basically just a PR speech in written form. It has no force of law, no effect, or anything like that. It’s basically just the Executive saying the equivalent of “On behalf of the United States Government, we hereby declare that Cake is Good!” Proclamations are effectively pointless, legally speaking.

An Executive Order on the other hand, has the force of law WITHIN THE EXECUTIVE BRANCH, but nowhere else. EOs direct how the Executive Branch is to interpret the laws passed by Congress and Regulations as decided upon via the legal process. They are binding on all members of the Executive Branch, and anyone with direct dealings with the US government that might be covered specifically by the EO.

By issuing a proclamation, it allows anyone (such as the ACLU) to challenge the legality of the proclamation. Speculation is that Biden wants the order challenged so that he can claim the need for legislation (which will include a lot of pork).

I cannot express how against adding shit to a bill I am. Every bill should only cover one thing i.e border bill, the House did it with the funding of Ukraine and Israel then added the Tik Tok ban, so that it’s harder for members to vote against it. Annoys the hell out of me

The perfect way to get funding for the border is to simply put it into the defense budget, but those clowns in DC (both parties) know that, but neither want to fix the problem they only want to use it to pimp votes and to get tv time.
Or, they could have left what was built (and being built) in place? 🤷‍♂️

While I don't disagree with what's happening today, this could have been avoided. It wasn't both sides of the aisle that created this mess.

It was in fact both sides of the aisle that created this mess, whether you or any other right people want to believe it or not.

Let’s touch on your “they could have left what was built (and being built) in place”- we were told “Mexico is going to pay for it” that didn’t happen at all, Mexico isn’t paying one cent for the wall. What was built is still standing and a section is being built by the current admin, this is readily available to check.

To say it wasn’t both sides of the aisle is being dishonest and I would even dare say a lie. A border bill was put in place to vote on, Trump told his surrogates in congress “don’t pass this bill or do anything that helps Biden” again readily available to check. Dems tried adding border security to the defense budget, it was denied by the right, again readily available to check, so for you or anybody to say “this wasn’t caused by both sides of the aisle” is dishonest, but not surprising

How? The country had the lowest numbers...this administration gets elected and kills all the border policies. And then all hell breaks loose. Biden bragged, as did others, about the number of orders they canceled as soon as they got in office.

But, this is something "both sides" created?

While people can sit and claim these things you are purporting others sit back and say, "nope, that's not what happened."

Trump's wall is bad.

The current administration is building a wall to help.

What the fuck.

It was never intended to mean a cash payment. It was rhetorical. Mexico would pay for it through limited trade deals or other changes in the relationship.

I've already proven you wrong on this argument.

You can't call it a border bill when all the money, most, is going to things that aren't the border.

There was a robust border bill and the repubs in congress got told by daddy Don not to support it, so therefor thats both sides
