To be honest with y'all, I really hate this news. Now Tiger fans will have an excuse when they get their tails kicked three or four times this upcoming season. I can just hear the corndogs now.

Should have dropped more than just the Kentucky and Arkansas games last year--Florida, Auburn, Bama, and Tennessee in SECCG.

How many NC teams can y'all name that have allowed opponents to rack up 43, 34, & 50 points against them?

That still boogles my mind.

From the reactions I've seen and heard today most LSU fans realized this very well could be coming and there isn't a lot of shock. However, when it comes to the QB in relation to next season in terms of wins and losses I don't see much of a change in their attitude. NOW, if you see them drop 4-5 games next season I can see them being upset, but not making excuses. Jarrett Lee has some talent. He was pretty heavily recruiting out of Tx.
Actually, I think most Tiger fans are relieved now that we no longer have to worry when RP will screw up and we will have to go to a new QB who hasn't hardly even practiced. At least now we will have someone to gain experience, even if he isn't great out of the box. And trust me, there will be no excuses for us if we tank this year. I didn't count RP as our "savior" for this year, anyway. He was real good, but not worth the BS we had to put up with keeping him.

TP, I lived in Red Stick for 6 years and spent a lot of time around campus among the Tiger faithful--got a degree from LSU. I know plenty of Tiger fans who will be making excuses. Believe me, they're out there.

What LSU has working in their favor is an experienced OL (4 of 5, I believe, are returning) who made a good-but-not-great QB, Matt Flynn, look better than what he really was. Ever notice how MF reacted when he was under pressure (which wasn't that often thanks to the group up front)? All you need to do is watch the first half of last year's Tulane game.

He threw 3 INT's in our game.

I've seen them turn on people quickly. Who knows how they will react. Saying they are down because of a RS frosh at QB wouldn't be, IMO, excuses. Now, if I see them saying, "If you only had RP we would have won?"

Please don't remind me. It still hurts to think about how we lost that game.

I do believe you nailed it with that last saying, though. That's exactly the kind of stuff I was alluding to.

Remember the "Hodson played hurt" excuse in '87?

(Not for sure if you caught the example, which I had added to the earlier post).

I was living in Memphis in '87 and can't say I knew an LSU fan. May have known a few, but not well. (Heck, I was probably too pissed of about Curry being hired at the time)

I've seen several of the older LSU fans on the forum I visit often refer back to Hodson and making comparisons to this situation today.

They won the SEC title in '86, didn't they? I looked it up and see they went 10-1-1 in '87 (which was the only 10 win season they had in that decade) so what were they using the excuse for? I assume it was their loss to a 7-5 Alabama team? One would think they would have become used to losing at home vs Alabama by that point.

I've been of the opinion, for a long time, that judgment off the field can be indicative of judgment on the field.

I'm sure it's disappointing, or at least a cause of concern, looking ahead at the fall. The first thing that crossed my mind when I received the text this morning was "they should be thankful it happened now, instead of this fall."

I've been told by a few of my LSU guys the story about how, what and where this dismissal stemmed from. To say the least, for a kid to be involved in what he was involved in this time is cause for concern...and not from a football perspective. Concern for his future as a person.

is it a bad sign that when i saw the official news this morning i just went, "hmm," and then checked my email? ;)

The guy wasn't a bad teammate as far as being a friend goes, he just had no respect for a higher authority, which was going to become an inevitable pr0blem.

My first thought was "who was it I saw predict this back in the Perrilloux thread? I know they'll fess up that they called it before the morning passes."

You know who I'm talking about.

How well do you feel Lee and Hatch know the playbook today? Lee was running the scout team last year, wasn't he? I know both of these guys will be spending A LOT of time studying film and the playbook this summer. It should make the skel drills interesting to follow.

Well, obviously it is just a guess, but Lee has to know it as well as any R-FR could. He got to work all spring as the first teamer the offense was introduced slowly to all last year as it was Crowton's first year.

He is a smart decision maker and should be really productive in the system. Though, he is still a freshman and mistakes will be there. Thankfully we should lead or be near the top of the SEC in rushing and will have a good defense and I think that is all you can ask for as a young QB.

Lead the team, be productive and do not turn the ball over. 'Bout all you can ask from any QB :D

Little shocked, but you have to respect Les on this move. He had to go because he was a negative influence on them as a University, and sometimes that's more important then football.

What's the over/under on how long before RP ends up in Angola?
That's some really funny stuff in this thread. I was curious to see that Bama fans thought of the most recent developments and how it affected ya'll. Some good stuff here.

This is likely very possible unless the kid gets his head on strait.
